Strapping small parts
If you find a large number of yarn trimmings in a closet or chest, use them to tie around small pieces such as a cup handle, teapot lid, or small jar. You can also make a nibble toy for your pet by tying bottle cork caps around.
In order for a really beautiful thing to turn out from the rest of the yarn, decide in advance what the final result should be. Combine different colors. For example, if there is very little white thread left and a little more gray thread, while knitting, you can make a thin white strip surrounding it with gray. If the composition is chosen correctly, you will get a unique and beautiful handmade item.
Everything that you knit during quarantine can later be used as gifts for family and friends.
Bottle and can decor
Using glue and thread, you can change the look of any can, get an unusual and beautiful storage accessory. If you have a lot of empty seaming jars at home, use them to store cereals and spices in the closet. Also, a jar can make a good organizer for storing little things.
Before starting work, thoroughly clean the jar from any dirt, dry it, and only then start your creativity. Take the long threads and stick them on the glue, winding them around the can. Use transparent glue, and if not, PVA is also suitable - after absorption, there will be no white traces on the threads.
In such jars, you can store cotton pads and sticks, makeup brushes, buttons or various decor. In order to find a suitable design, decide in advance what you will put in the jar. Fill the jar only on the outside, do not use any decorative elements for the interior surfaces.
Volumetric ball of threads
In order to make a beautiful ball of threads, you will need an inflatable ball, PVA glue and threads.
The process of making this decor is very simple:
- Pour a small amount of glue into a wide-rimmed container for easy handling.
- Smear all the thread in the glue, make sure that it is soaked in it.
- Start wrapping the inflated balloon with thread. Do not wrap it too tightly, leave gaps.
- Remember to leave a small hole at the bottom of the balloon through which you can pull the balloon out after the craft is dry.
- Wait until the workpiece is completely dry. For the first three to four hours, additional layers of glue can be applied to the threads.
- After 24 hours, pierce the ball with a needle. Make sure the craft is completely dry and carefully pull the ball out of the hole at the bottom.
If you make several of these balls of different sizes, you get a beautiful composition that can be hung on a chandelier or placed on a mantelpiece.
Fluffy pom-poms for scarves, carpets and blankets
If you have enough yarn to make pom poms, decorate scarves, rugs, and rugs. You can sew an interesting and funny toy from pom-poms, or even make a decor for clothes, socks, bags.
A small amount of thread is required per ball, and you can use even the smallest trimmings by stringing them together.
You should have a voluminous ball that resembles a donut on which threads are wound. Begin to cut the threads along the edge, keeping them in the center, and then tie tightly with the thread. To give the pompom a nice shape, fluff up the threads and make sure that they lie exactly in all parts of the pompom and there are no bald spots anywhere.
Potholders and coasters for hot dishes
One of the best ideas for making leftover yarn is to knit a potholder or hot pot. Old potholders quickly lose their beautiful appearance and need to be replaced. While in quarantine, you can impose several potholders in advance and then use them in turn.
To knit a hexagonal potholder, you must use double crochets and air loops. First, knit a small circle of 9 loops, close the row and begin to expand it in length, overlaying new rows.
After the 3-4 row is completed, you can add a new thread of a different color, in which case the hot stand or the pot holder will turn out to be multicolored and unusual.
"Pocket" for storing small items
If you like to watch TV while sitting on the couch, tie a beautiful and convenient accessory - a pocket for small things that hang on the armrest of the couch.
In such a pocket, you can put a remote control, a package of nuts, knitting needles - everything that you keep close at hand when watching movies or TV shows. You can also store glasses or some important document in your pocket, which should be at hand.
It is very easy to knit such a product even for novice craftswomen who have not knitted complex patterns before. All you need is to prepare the base - a canvas, to which rectangular pockets of any convenient shape will be tied or sewn on in the future.
Choose a pocket attachment method depending on the type of sofa you have. If the sofa is leather, then the pocket will slide, so you will need additional Velcro tapes at the ends. You can put a pocket without velcro on a regular fabric sofa by tucking the inside inside the sofa so that it doesn't pop out when you add heavy items to the pocket.
Baskets for bathroom and living room
The easiest way to organize storage in the bathroom is to use special baskets of different sizes. These baskets can be used to store laundry, cosmetics, toilet paper and other items.
Tie basket do it yourself very simply - first knit the bottom. It is a small circle or rectangle. Then start lifting the rows up, but make sure that the product does not lose its correct shape.
When you finish knitting, you can reinforce the basket with either cardboard, placing it underneath, or using metal wires, building something like a frame. Do not put baskets in the bathroom if the humidity is constantly high - the product will quickly become moldy. Wash the baskets from time to time, removing all additional parts - this way they will last longer and will look much prettier and neater.
