High humidity

Wood is one of those materials that easily absorbs liquids and is sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity. Difficulties can arise even at the stage of laying the floor, if the transportation conditions, for example, parquet boards were violated: the packaging was opened, during transportation and packaging in damp weather. That is why you need to buy parquet in large supermarkets with sufficient indoor storage space. The most difficult thing is to care for a wooden floor in those Russian regions where, in the winter cold, the temperature in the premises can reach 27 ° C, and the humidity can drop to 30%.

Will just a few months in such conditions lead to the fact that your floor will simply crack. The ideal condition for long-term use of parquet or board is the average temperature in the room within + 18-23 ° C, while the relative humidity is desirable 40-60%.

Mechanical damage

It is risky enough to lay parquet flooring in the kitchen. After all, even the fall of a sharp knife can be detrimental to this coating. In no case should you walk on such a floor "on heels", and it is best to put on the furniture legs in special decorative socks. The most susceptible to mechanical damage "soft" types of wood are pine, birch and cherry.

If you think that a layer of protective varnish will protect the board or parquet from wear and tear, then you are mistaken. After three to four months of active use of the chair, your parquet will acquire irreversible damage.

Advice! To extend the protective properties of varnish surfaces, purchase special care products. They will help keep your parquet flooring longer.

In addition, protective grout will help hide minor defects, cracks and abrasions. Such compositions, or polishes, contain wax and preparations included in varnish compositions. Look for varnishes or cleaners that match the varnish that was applied to the home surface. Otherwise, the substances may react, and instead of improving the appearance, you will get highlights or bald spots.

Problem solving

If your parquet or wooden floor has become unusable or you think that the appearance of the room is outdated, then you can use completely unexpected solutions. There is a whole palette of colored varnishes that will help fix any imperfections in the floor. Such compositions have gone far from traditional wood stains, do not have a poisonous smell and are more durable.

When choosing a shade of colored varnish, select the desired scale. After all, it is much more difficult and more expensive to get rid of a colored coating than from a transparent one. Remember that any restoration of parquet or boards is possible only after sanding the surface, otherwise the varnish or other protective coating may simply not adhere. The entire cleaning procedure, together with drying, can take more than 2 days.
