However, many of its breakdowns are explained by pollution, which means that knowing how to clean the laptop keyboard at home can significantly prolong its "life" and get rid of the significant waste of buying and installing a new one.

Selecting the cleaning method

In a stationary PC, getting dirt inside the keyboard can lead to malfunction only of this device, without harming the computer. In the notebook, the keyboard is built into the case, which means everything that penetrates the buttons can get inside to the electronic "stuffing".In this case, the owner can wait for serious trouble - from the violation of ventilation, which leads to overheating and spontaneous shutdown of the PC, to the failure of electronics( motherboard, processor, etc.).Therefore, you need to know how to clean the keyboard on a laptop by yourself. This work is desirable to be carried out regularly, without waiting for signs of a malfunction of the device.

The choice of method for cleaning the laptop keyboard depends on the type and degree of contamination.

  1. Dirt, grease stains from the hands and dust on the outer surface of the keys do not interfere with the operation of the device, but severely damage the appearance and is simply unhygienic. Cleaning requires a cloth and a cleaning liquid.
  2. Debris and dirt entering the keyboard can cause the individual buttons to fall or fail( do not burn). In this case, more serious work is required to remove dirt from the device.
  3. If you spilled tea, coffee, or other liquid on the device, emergency measures must be taken to save the device and laptop.

Surface cleaning

Used in the first case to remove dirt directly from the keys and in the space between them. It is desirable to clean the PC keyboard once a month. Clean the buttons with a soft, lint-free cloth. Use of cotton wool for these purposes is not desirable. The space between the buttons is cleaned with a soft brush, at the very least - with cotton buds, but you should carefully watch that the villi do not remain between the keys.

As a cleaning liquid, it is advisable to use special cleaning compounds, for example, the gel of the firm "Defender".But you can do with home remedies. Suitable diluted isopropyl alcohol, it cleans the plastic well, but this substance is not everyone. There is a universal tool that everyone has. The keys can be perfectly and safely washed with ordinary soapy water.

Before you clean the keyboard, you must turn off the computer and remove the battery!

Prepared napkin should be slightly moistened with a cleaning liquid, so that its droplets can not get inside the keyboard and gently wipe( and not wash) it with all the keys. Brush or cotton swab moisten with soapy water, be sure to get wet with a napkin, then clean the space between the buttons. In the end, you need to wipe the device with a dry cloth and do not turn on the computer for 20-30 minutes.

You can not use acetone and other solvents for cleaning, since they are capable of dissolving( melting) the keyboard and the case of the device. Do not wash the buttons with vodka and other compounds containing ethyl alcohol. This very aggressive substance will easily remove dirt, and at the same time paint on the keys.

Regular removal of dirt from the keys significantly extends the service life of the device. In addition, the need for deep cleaning will be much less frequent.

Deep cleaning of the keyboard

If you get debris and dirt under the keys, it's impossible to work on a laptop. In this case, you can not do without thorough cleaning. First, you should try to remove the dirt without disassembling the keyboard:

  • Brush the long nap between the keys, from time to time turning the laptop and gently shaking it.
  • Place the notebook obliquely and blow the keyboard with a hair dryer( cold air)
  • Do the same with a portable compressed air cartridge.
  • Use a special miniature USB vacuum cleaner.

If, after the manipulations done, the buttons continue to stick or not be burned, then you have to disassemble and wash the keyboard. It's better to take it off the laptop. Before trying to disassemble the keyboard, it is necessary to find out how it is fixed in the laptop. In different models it is differently fixed in the case. More often the keyboard is fastened by means of latches. Press the latches with a thin screwdriver, starting from the upper left corner. After releasing the upper and lateral sides, the keyboard is carefully pulled out of the housing. Do this very carefully, so as not to damage the cable that connects it to the motherboard. Gently unplug the cable, you can start disassembling. But before that, the keyboard should be photographed, otherwise it will be difficult to return the keys to their places. Buttons are removed with a screwdriver, but this must be done very carefully, since their fastening is quite "gentle".

After dismantling the button, you can wash with soapy water, and clean the base and contacts with a soft brush. In case of severe contamination, the contacts and gums should be wiped with a cloth moistened with cleaning solution or soapy water, and then wipe dry. Do not wash them in any way.

After cleaning, it is advisable to allow all parts to dry thoroughly, after which you can assemble the keyboard and install it in place.

If some keys do not work after the procedure, then there is no sense to disassemble and clean the keyboard again, since, most likely, it's not mud, but a malfunction, and it will have to be replaced.

Each laptop owner is able to perform prophylactic surface cleaning himself. Complete disassembly and cleaning can also be done independently, but it is better to entrust this work to specialists.
