Parquet repair with seeds or pencil shavings

If there is a dent or abyss on the parquet, it can be repaired with small sawdust. But they are not always in the house. In this case, ordinary seeds will come to your aid.

Unexpected materials at hand for minor repairs in the house — First, clean the damaged area from dirt or burnt parts. Use a spatula or knife for this.

Apply wood glue to the cleaned area. You can use building PVA or universal glue, which is suitable for different materials.

Fill the dent with seeds. It does not matter how roasted or salt is present. Seeds can be sunflower, pumpkin or sesame seeds, this is also not important.

Grind the seeds into dust with an ordinary hammer. It is easier, of course, to grind them first, and then fill them up, but in the first case they will stick more firmly to the base.

Apply glue again on top of the crushed seed and leave it as it is until it hardens completely.

When the backfill hardens, sand the surface with sandpaper so that the dent disappears and everything becomes even again.

On top of the sanded patch, apply a filler matching the color of your parquet. When this layer is also completely dry, sand it again until it is perfectly even.

Now all that remains is to mask the place of the patch. Match the paint by color and paint the veins to match the natural pattern of your parquet. Then cover the patch with varnish

Instead of seeds for repairs, you can just as well use pencil shavings. They also fill the damaged area with it, fill it with glue, and then grind and putty, as in the first version

Repairing tiles with eggshells

A hole in a tile can seriously ruin your mood. To make a major repair, you will have to break out the tile and look for a replacement for it, and the very process of dismantling the old tile can also damage the neighboring elements. Before deciding on such drastic measures, try to do cosmetic repairs. And ordinary eggshells will help you with this.

Start with preparation: the hole must be freed from small fragments, dust and dirt. Then grease the entire damaged surface with universal transparent glue.

Crush the eggshell and fill the damaged area with it.

Apply more glue on top of the shell and leave it as it is to dry there. Pay attention to the glue: ceramics must be included in the list of materials glued to it.

When the shell and glue filling hardens, sand the area with fine sandpaper

To make the patch not so noticeable, pick up a nail polish of a suitable color and cover the surface with it.

Wipe the patch with solvent to remove excess varnish

Of course, the tiles won't look new, but such a renovation will give you time to fundraise and morale for more capital action.

Furniture repair with chocolate bars

Scratches on furniture are another cause for grief. They appear as white stripes on the polish and immediately become very noticeable. They can be dealt with with a chocolate bar. This will be the sweetest possible repair option.

First, pick a chocolate that matches your furniture the closest in color. Dark, milky or white - see which works best

Break off a piece of tile and, pressing lightly, rub the scratches with chocolate so that it fills all the grooves

Then wipe the entire surface with a soft flannel to remove any excess sweet mass. This polishing of scratches will last a long time. If necessary, it is not difficult to repeat it.

As you can see, very unusual materials can be used for minor repairs. This way you will be able to save money. At the same time, you will achieve a good result without any extra effort.
