Test and evaluation procedure

This method was developed by the Automobile Club of Europe( ACE) in cooperation with the German Technical Supervision Organization( GTU).

Location: Pirelli training ground in Italy. Braking on dry and wet asphalt from 80 to 20 km / h with determination of the brake distance. Test hydroplaning on the track with 7-mm.layer of water. The wet grip value is estimated by the average speed of a circle with a diameter of 80 m. The noise level is evaluated in accordance with the ECE R117 standard. The cost of the tires was also evaluated by the price / quality ratio.

1 - longitudinal. 2 - transverse .

* - indicates the average price for the kit among all sizes of tires of this brand.

Summer tire rating of 2014:

10. Apollo Aspire 4G

High-tech tires of the fourth generation provide controllability of the car on any road. The tread pattern provides moisture removal, and the rubber compound ensures a reliable grip.

9. Kumho Solus HS51

The test of summer tires includes not only models of European brands. Korean tires Kumho Tires will suit even those drivers who prefer aggressive driving style. The reinforced construction of the tire guarantees the stability of the contact spot for any maneuvers. The rubber mixture is characterized by a high content of silicon dioxide.

8. Hankook Ventus S1 evo2 K117

The wide longitudinal grooves on the tread ensure unimpeded movement over the wet surface. Step grooves on the tires serve as indicators of wear, and also help self-cleaning the tread.

7. Barum Bravuris 3 HM

This model is a novelty of 2014.The HM marking in the model name means "High Mileage", i.e."Tires for the big run".Increasing the travel resource provides a flatter and wider contour of the tire. Prevent abrasion is also a special design of the lamellae and the composition of the rubber compound.

6. Nokian Line XL

In 2013, tires from the Nokian Line series won in the summer rubber tests of German editions Auto Test and Auto Bild. Experts note a short stopping distance, low noise level and an optimal balance of driving performance.

5. Bridgestone Potenza S001

The lightweight design of this model provides a lower rolling resistance than the Potenza RE050.The use of polyethylene terephthalate( PET), reinforcing the sidewall, has improved adhesion. Despite the sporting characteristics, the tires feature low noise.

4. Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2

The latest developments of Goodyear technologists have allowed to reduce noise level, improve grip and reduce fuel consumption, becauseThe lightweight construction of the tire helps to reduce the energy consumption for overcoming rolling resistance.

3. Pirelli PZero

Originally these ultra-low profile were developed for sports cars and only later went into mass production. The rubber compound from which the protector is made is characterized by a high content of synthetic polymers and silicon dioxide, which provides a reliable grip.

2. Dunlop Sport Maxx RT

The test of summer rubber carried out by professionals allowed selecting the most reliable models of famous brands. The adaptive rubber compound provides grip, and the massive outer blocks of the tire shoulder increase the handling and stability of the car.

1. Continental SportContact 5

The best summer tires of the were tested at speeds up to 300 km / h. In comparison with the model of the previous generation, the leader of the summer rubber rating demonstrates in the tests a decrease in rolling resistance by 10% and an increase in the mileage by 13%, as well as a significant reduction in the braking distance on dry and wet roads.
