Surface preparation

Before proceeding to the treatment of the ceiling, it must be cleaned of the old coating. This process is quite complex and time-consuming, so beforehand remove all the interior items from the premises.

Important! If you do not have the opportunity to remove certain types of furniture from the room, cover their surface with a plastic film, and carefully fix the film itself with adhesive tape.

You should also take care of your personal safety, for which experts recommend using a respirator and goggles.

Useful advices:

• Removing the old whitewash from the ceiling surface, make sure that no missing areas remain.

Preparation of tools and materials

• vinegar or citric acid;
• scraper;
• solution of copper sulfate;
• wooden bar.

Primer

Carrying out repairs in your home, you can choose to use the purchased primer from the building store or independently prepared composition. If you decide to prepare the building yourself, then use one of the following recipes:

Universal composition:

1. In a container filled with 5 liters of water, add 2.5 kg of lime, which should be stirred until completely dissolved.
2. In hot water, dilute 70 g of table salt and add to the lime solution.
3. Stir the resulting formulation, leave for a while.
4. Add water to the container until a 10 liter mixture is obtained.
5. Add about 150 grams of chalk in one and a half liters of carpentry glue.
6. Strain the lime with a fine gauze or sieve.
7. Add the glue with chalk to the resulting thick paste.

Important! This composition is suitable both for sealing large slits, and for applying a small layer on the surface of the ceiling.

Based on linseed oil:

1. Take 3 kg of slaked lime, laundry soap and linseed oil.
2. 150-200 grams of soap, dilute in a container filled with three liters of hot water.
3. Add the drying oil to the resulting soapy solution.
4. Slaked lime is placed in a separate container and diluted with 4 liters of water.
5. Combine the two preparations and mix thoroughly.
6. If the total volume of the substance obtained is less than 10 liters, then fill the missing volume with water.

Important! The primer mixture prepared according to this recipe is characterized by an increased level of reliability and can be made at home.

Whitening procedure

When the entire range of preparatory work is completed, you can safely proceed directly to the procedure of whitewashing the ceiling, which can be performed with the help of lime or chalk.

Cretaceous composition

For the preparation of such a building composition you will need the following components:

• 2-3 kg of chalk;
• 100 g of carpentry glue;
• laundry soap;
• 3-4 liters of water;
• about 15-17 g of blue.

The whitewash composition for the ceiling is prepared according to the following algorithm:

1. In a hot-water filled container, dilute the sifted chalk and joiner glue.
2. In order for the treated surface to have the most attractive appearance, add a small amount of blue in the composition.
3. Stir the substance thoroughly and proceed to surface treatment.

Important! To the surface of the ceiling had the most attractive shade, the main thing - do not go too far with the amount of coloring material, which is the blueprint. If you plan to process a bright room, you can completely stop adding this component.

Composition of hydrated lime

For surface treatment with lime, you will need the following materials:

• 2 kg of slaked lime;
• 40 g of blue;
• 200 g of aluminum alum;
• 100 g of table salt.

Prepare the highest quality whitewash composition, adhering to the following recommendations:

1. Dilute the slaked lime in a small amount of warm water.
2. Add a small amount of blueberry, table salt and aluminum alum to the solution.
3. Stir the mixture thoroughly and bring its volume to 10 liters.

The finished building compound must be evenly applied to the surface of the ceiling with a roller. Before performing this procedure, it is advisable to hide the surfaces of already-walled walls to avoid further contamination.

Important! If the apartment is on the sunny side, then experts recommend closing the windows. So you will ensure the whitewash is a natural drying process. Also avoid the occurrence of drafts in the room, because they can lead to the formation of unevenness.

Water-based paint

It is also possible to treat the surface of the ceiling with water-based paint. This technology is slightly different from whitewash, but it does not represent a particular complexity.

The whole range of works can be divided into the following stages:

1. Surface cleaning.
2. Priming.
3. Putty.
4. Staining

Important! To achieve the maximum quality effect, it is recommended to use exclusively store, ready-made mixtures. The applied paint usually consists of two parts - the base and the color.
