How and what to wash whitewash from the floor, walls, ceiling after repair

Often after the completion of major or cosmetic repairs, all surfaces of the room remain covered with spots of whitewash or a layer of calcareous dust, even if protective polyethylene covers and newspapers were used. It only seems that it is easy to wash off whitewashing.

Despite the fact that the composition is represented by the smallest specks, which should be washed without problems by water, in practice to wash off white formations and divorces is rather problematic. Nevertheless, there are several ways proven by practice, with which you can quickly and without unnecessary trouble restore the cleanliness of the floor, walls and other surfaces.

Means with which you can eliminate traces of whitewash from different surfaces

To wash off whitewash and prevent the appearance of muddy stains on different surfaces, after finishing the repair, you can perform the following manipulations:

  • Use of vegetable oil. In a bucket or basin mix the warm water and vegetable oil( per 1 liter of half-glass liquid product). The resulting composition wipe the floor, you can also surface the walls. Then we change the water and this time in the same proportions we mix cool water and vinegar. We wash the surface with this product, after which we wipe them with clean water and leave to dry with good access to fresh air.

  • Use of table salt. To wash off the whitewash, which is represented not just by dust or stains, but by a dense layer, you must first thoroughly wash the surface of the walls and floor with a compound made of warm water and dishwashing detergent( not more than a tablespoon per basin of water). After this, wipe them with a solution of table salt( half a glass of fine powder on a bucket of liquid). If you can not completely repair the repair tracks, then add half the glass of 3% vinegar to the finished salt composition and repeat the manipulation. As a completion of the procedure, the floor and the surface of the walls must be wiped with clean water and dried.

  • Manganese solution. Also able to quickly eliminate persistent soiling, however, to handle the varnished surface, this tool is better not to use, can remain a divorce. We raise potassium permanganate with lukewarm water to obtain a solution of bright pink color, which we rub the surfaces affected by the repair process. To wash it is necessary nothing!

  • Kerosene against persistent stains. In a bucket of water, pour a few tablespoons of kerosene( with strong contaminants the volume of the active component can be brought to half a glass), stir and my problem areas. Use then clean water is necessary.

Tip: If a persistent unpleasant odor persists in the room as a result of using a highly smelling agent( eg kerosene or gasoline), then the treated floor and wall surfaces must be wiped with a very weak vinegar solution. Then let them just dry by opening the windows.

  • Universal cleaning products. A good result is produced by such ready-made products as Domestos. We dilute it in the proportion of two tablespoons per 5 liters of water and use it for rubbing the contaminated areas. Clean the surface several times with clean water.

  • Detergents for flooring. In cases where the contamination from repairs remains insignificant, you can try to wash them with the simplest means for treating the floors( Mr. Muscle or Mr. Proper). An additional advantage of this approach is the atmosphere of freshness and a pleasant smell as a result of the cleaning.

In addition to all of the above, there are profile tools that are designed specifically to remove traces of whitewashing from walls and floor. The main thing is to apply them strictly according to the instructions, without violating the recommended dosages and adhering to the sequence of actions.

How to wash off old whitewash before starting work?

Usually, even at the very beginning of repairs, there is a need to remove the old layer of whitewash from the ceiling or walls. To conduct such a procedure, it is not necessary to call the masters, you can try to cope on their own. The whole process consists of several stages:

  1. Before you remove the whitewash, you need to free the room from furniture or at least cover it with protective plastic covers. In this case, then do not have to think about how to clean objects and surfaces from dirt. There are a lot of ways to remove an unnecessary layer. The most common option is using a nebulizer. With the help of a special or homemade atomizer it is necessary to distribute the water over the ceiling so that it does not drip, but penetrates into the texture of the material, making it friable. We wait 10 minutes and repeat the manipulation. Next, take a spatula and carefully remove the layer of lime from the ceiling. We work quickly until raw materials are dried again.
  2. There is another effective option to remove whitewash from the ceiling. To implement it, we need a newspaper that needs to be lubricated with a thin layer of inexpensive glue, and glued to the ceiling, leaving the tips of the sheet free. As soon as the structure dries to the ceiling, carefully remove it along with whitewashing. Thus we process the entire ceiling, preparing it for repair.

After the cleaning, it is necessary to wash the ceiling of the chalk remnants with a dense sponge. After the surface dries, you can proceed to its further processing.
