If you have recently acquired a gentle dress made of artificial silk or a new bright blouse, you need to know how to wash viscose. Just one wrong decision can spoil the thing you like. Viscose, or artificial silk, as it was called in the people, has been popular for over a century. Fabric has a number of advantages over other synthetic fabrics, for which I have grown fond of many clothing manufacturers.
- It perfectly absorbs moisture.
- Easy to color.
- Passes air, allowing the body to "breathe".
The basis of the material is wood pulp. Despite the second name, the fabric does not always resemble natural silk. Experimenting, manufacturers have learned to produce a fabric that resembles wool, cotton and linen in structure. Since viscose - "lady" is luxurious, but fastidious, she needs proper care. Having withstood one wash in the drum of the washing machine in the wrong mode, the viscose dress will turn into old rags.
Preparation for washing
In order not to damage the viscose blouse or dress once and for all, examine the tag on the wrong side of the thing. Most often the manufacturer indicates the exact recommendations for washing, drying and ironing. By sticking to them, you do not have to say goodbye to things ahead of time.
If the tag is cut and you have not previously encountered machine wash of viscose items, follow the rules.
- Sort all items of the wardrobe by colors( viscose products are often painted in bright colors, which can be shed when washing).
- Check whether pockets are empty( a forgotten metal element can cause rust to appear on the fabric and damage the washing machine).Fasten buttons, zippers, rivets.
- Turn all things inside out, this helps to prolong their longevity.
Soaking
Soaking is required only in case of severe soiling and is not a necessary washing step. Perhaps the car passing by came to you with dirty water or the kid decided to play in a sandbox in a smart viscose suit. To get rid of dirt for sure, the thing needs to be soaked in soapy water for at least half an hour.
In the basin, type cold water( maximum 30 degrees).Add a small amount of powder for hand washing. More suitable are special liquid products intended for washing wool or delicate fabrics. If you do not have any of these facilities in your home, make a strong solution of washing soap. The thing needs to be soaked for half an hour, then easily wring out and send to the drum of the washing machine.
Advice
Do not rub the contaminated area with your hands or brushes, as this will damage the structure of the fabric.
Hand wash
The question of how to wash viscose is particularly acute, because this cloth sits after incorrect washing. If you are not limited by the time frame, wash the product by hand. At the same time, you need to soak the thing, and then gently wash it with light movements. You can not rub it and squeeze it hard. Watch the temperature of the water - it should not exceed 30 degrees.
Machine wash
Special modes that are present in all modern models of washing machines, allow you to wash even delicate products. Things from viscose are no exception. Install the program "Hand wash" or "Delicate" in the machine. The water temperature in such modes usually does not exceed 30 degrees. Having set a higher temperature, do not be surprised that your favorite things have sat down.
Make sure that the spin function is turned off. Usually, washing in delicate mode provides automatic de-spinning. To protect clothing from mechanical damage in the car, you need to use a special bag for washing machines.
If after washing with observance of all rules the thing still sat, then:
- the product purchased was of poor quality;
- thing is made of viscose with impurities of wool, acrylic or polyester.
Drying and ironing
To preserve the "market appearance" of viscose products, forget about machine drying. You can not hang things on radiators or coils with warm water. The ideal option for drying viscose is a horizontal surface. Place a dense terry towel, and on top lay a wet, slightly wrung out product and smoothen your hands with noticeable bruises. To remove excess moisture, spread the top one more towel and press it to the thing with the palms.
Advice
Avoid direct sunlight when drying.
You can iron the viscose only on the wrong side. This will not spoil the appearance. Set the lowest temperature on the iron. It is advisable to use gauze when ironing. If there are any bruising on the fabric, drizzle them with water. Do not use the steam function.
If you follow all the rules, the process of washing and ironing delicate items will be a simple task for you. Take care of clothes carefully!
