Over the past decade, the world has shaken more than 100,000 terrorist attacks. Moreover, in some countries terrorist attacks of different scale are carried out almost daily. The Institute of Economics and Peace in cooperation with the University of Maryland compiled the rating of the world's countries in terms of the level of terrorism .
The study involved 158 countries. The index of the terrorist threat was calculated according to 4 indicators: the number of terrorist attacks in 2012, the number of dead and injured, the amount of material damage.

Last year, 175 terrorist attacks took place in Somalia, 294 people died and 493 injured. Terror acts in this African country occur several times a week. Several extremist groups are operating in Somalia at once.

In 2012, there were 113 terrorist acts in Yemen, 454 people were killed, 415 were injured. The most serious incidents were an explosion during the rehearsal of the military parade in May and a terrorist attack during the funeral ceremony in August of last year.
4. India
Last year, 529 terrorist acts took place on the territory of the country, in which 402 people were killed and 667 were injured. The most bloody terrorist attack was on August 15 at the height of the Independence Day celebration.
3. Afghanistan
In the state, which closes the top three of the countries rating on the level of terrorism, in 2012 there were 364 incidents in which 1,293 people were killed and 1,882 were injured. In Afghanistan, the terrorist threat comes mostly from Taliban activists.
2.Pakistan
Over the past year, 910 terrorist acts took place in the country, in which 1,468 people died and 2459 were injured. The focus of terrorism can be considered the territory of Pakistan on the border with Afghanistan, which is practically not controlled by the authorities.
1. Iraq
The maximum level of terrorism is fixed in Iran, where there were 1,228 terrorist attacks per year. Killed - 1798 people, injured - 4905. Participation in the terrorist attack in this country is punishable by death, however, in spite of this, it is Iraq that is considered the center of international terrorism. In addition to the infamous Al-Qaeda in the territory of the state, about three dozen extremist associations operate.
