Thanks to the intensive development of modern technologies, to date, washing machines are available in almost every apartment. However, do not forget that any technical device needs periodic maintenance work, among which an important role is played by lubrication, located on the shaft of the drum of bearings. In this article, we'll show you how to lubricate the bearing in the washing machine yourself.

Oment is one of the most important components of the washing machine, which not only is responsible for the quiet and correct operation of the technical device, but also provides reliable protection against water leakage. This part is fastened to a special bushing near the steel shaft of the drum mounting. In combination with the bushing, the stuffing box ensures that the bearings and the entire fastening assembly are protected from moisture penetration.
Important! If the stuffing box is damaged, the moisture from the drum will leak onto the bearings, eventually they will quickly become unusable. Replacement of bearings is a laborious and difficult task, which may require the call of a qualified master.
How does it happen?
The stuffing box is included in the design of any washing machine, however, depending on the model of the home appliances, it can have various shapes and sizes.
Important! The part used in the washers can differ significantly from the similar component of other types of household appliances, and therefore, if you need to replace the component, purchase the product for a specific type of equipment.
Most manufacturers use rubber for the stuffing box, but you can also find parts from the following materials:
- silicone rubber;
- recycled rubber;
- polyurethane.
General properties of different
packing glands Regardless of the type of packing used by the manufacturer, it is based on a special metal insert. It provides a long-term preservation of the correct form and performs a reinforcing function.
Important! During the operation of the washing machine, the semiaxis, on which the tank and the drum of the technical device are fixed, rotates constantly. Since this element of the stylalk is in direct contact with the stuffing box, then under the influence of frictional force the latter is quickly worn out. To slow down this process, a special lubricant is necessarily used, which reduces the coefficient of friction due to the provided slip. At the same time, lubricants moisten the stuffing box and do not allow it to dry out.

For the preventive maintenance of household appliances, it is recommended to use exclusively specialized lubricants. Lubrication for bearings of washing machines must meet the following requirements:
- Moisture resistance. The material used for lubrication must not lose its inherent properties when exposed to moisture for a long time.
- Non-aggressive. The chemical composition of the lubricant for washing machines should not have a destructive effect on the stuffing box and the metal shaft.
- Thermal stability. The substance used must be resistant to temperature changes and not deteriorate when heated.
- Density. Bearing grease should have a certain level of viscosity and density, so as long as possible, do not flush with water.
Important! Do not use as a lubricant folk remedies, for example, fats or sunflower oil. This attitude to technology can lead to unpleasant consequences, because, it would seem, a more economical option of lubrication can completely disrupt the mechanism.
Where to buy?
You can buy a lubricant for a washing machine in a store that specializes in selling household appliances or parts. Due to the narrow purpose of this product, its price usually has a significant impact on the consumer's budget.
Among the proposed lubricants, you can often see the compositions for certain models of washing machines, which are produced by eminent manufacturing companies. However, you should know that most of the lubricants are interchangeable, and therefore you can use less expensive, but similar in composition.
Important! Today titanium and silicone materials are very popular, because they are able to withstand heating up to 200 C and repel water quite well.

To lubricate the bearings of your washing machine, the following set of materials and tools should be prepared in advance:
- specialized lubricant for washing machines;
- oil seal;
- scalpel;
- three-legged puller;
- set of wrenches;
- cross screwdriver.
To lubricate the bearing in the washing machine, you will almost completely disassemble the device, remove the drum and the tank from it. To achieve this, follow the following procedure:
- Remove the top and rear covers of the washing machine casing.
- Remove the drive belt from the pulley of the drum.
- Use a wrench to unscrew the locking screw of the drum. Unscrew the locking strip from the rear of the housing.
- With a three-blade puller, carefully detach the pulley pulley from the shaft.
- Disconnect all visible wires.
- Remove the counterweight, which requires twisting the fixing screws.
- Remove the flange with the bearings from the tank of the washing machine.
- Carefully remove the oil seal using a screwdriver.
- Having pierced the scalpel, remove the bearing cap.
- Lubricate the bearings and the oil seal with prepared lubricants.
- Assemble the washing machine by repeating all the steps in reverse order.
Important! Lubricating the oil seal initially apply a protective substance in a thin and even flattened layer on the outer surface of the part, then somewhat more intensively work the inside.
In this article we told you how to lubricate the bearing on a washing machine, why it is needed and what is needed for this. We hope that these recommendations will help you to regularly maintain the technical device at home and maximize the duration of its trouble-free operation.
