The artist's modest apartment before renovation

Yuri Smirnov's one-room apartment is located not far from the Taganka Theater. Since it is only 10 minutes to work in a calm step, moving to a larger apartment was never considered. The actor decided to give his wife a gift for the 55th anniversary of their marriage: renovation in the living room.

Yuri Nikolaevich admitted that he and his wife are scorpions by the sign of the zodiac, therefore it is difficult to be constantly together in the same room. The ideal solution would be some zoning of the common living room. In a conversation with designers, the actor did not express any special preferences in colors or content, only asked to make the space cozy.

In the living room with an area of 19 m² there was a spacious niche near the entrance, which, according to the designers' project, was occupied by a dressing room. The rest of the space was decided to be divided with a partition into two zones: sleeping and relaxation. For maximum comfort, several lighting scenarios will be implemented in the room. A significant plus was the presence of a large loggia with an area of 6.9 m².

The designers proposed to make a bedroom, a recreation area and a dressing room in the living room.

Repair sequence

Since the room had been fairly refurbished on a budget, there was no point in refurbishing. The craftsmen completely dismantled the finishing and replaced all the electrical wiring in the apartment.

A new parapet of foam blocks was built on the loggia, insulation was laid and an aluminum frame was installed, the strength of which is much higher than plastic. Double-chamber profiles with energy-saving double-glazed windows ensure a comfortable indoor temperature.

New window sills are veneered with oak. The warm floor was poured with a self-leveling screed and large textured tiles imitating natural stone were laid. An original retro-style chandelier was installed on the ceiling.

The floor in the living room was covered with expanded clay along the lighthouses, insulation and gypsum fiber sheets were laid. We chose modular oak parquet in winter fairytale color as a finishing coating. The walls were leveled with plaster. A plasterboard box was erected on the ceiling, which will visually increase the height of the room. Additionally, decorative elements made of polyurethane foam were installed: classic cornices, rosette and moldings.

The interior of the living room is made in beige and brown tones.

Several plasterboard panels were installed on the walls to break the monotony of the surface. They were decorated with linear moldings. Large-sized artificial stone slabs with imitation of marble were laid between the structures as an effective accent.

All surfaces were painted with innovative Japanese paint, which contains exclusively natural ingredients. The unique formula aims to absorb indoor odors.

Plasterboard structures protrude slightly above the wall

A metal and wood shelf, installed in a special niche between the wall panels, acts as a zoning in the room. Such a piece of furniture was very popular in the sixties of the last century, when Yuri Smirnov met his wife. Natural wood was used in the decoration of the sleeping area. A vertical grill with shelves was installed near the entrance, the surface of which is veneered with Hungarian oak.

Furnishing the space

A dressing room was made in a niche near the bedroom measuring 1 × 2 m, the mirrored doors of which were installed in a box made of solid wood and covered with a security film. Inside, they placed modern storage systems: shelves, baskets, trousers, drawers, hooks and compartments for accessories. The walk-in closet is more spacious than a conventional wardrobe due to the absence of partitions.

A double bed upholstered in beige velor was placed in the sleeping area. Premium anatomical mattress with multi-zone block of independent springs. Filling: natural latex, coconut coir and high density foam.
