The ratings of countries that are dangerous to visit are established annually by many international organizations. To compile the list of the most dangerous countries listed below, the data of the Global Peace Index was used. Experts from the Peace Institute and the University of Sydney took part in its development.
The index for determining the level of security of the country takes into account 23 indicators. These include both internal factors and external factors: the political stability of the region, the level of violence and crime, participation in external international conflicts, and spending on military needs.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, the state has been in a state of civil war, until in 2011 it split into two parts: Sudan and South Sudan. Between these states is now very tense relations because of territorial conflicts. The situation is extremely complex in the province of Darfur and the Abyei region. Relatively safe for tourists only the capital of Sudan Khartoum. Departure beyond its limits is fraught with danger. In the coastal waters of the country there are pirates.

Due to the complicated internal situation, Ukraine took the 8th place in the list of the most dangerous countries for tourists in 2017.Since the beginning of the armed internal conflict, the flow of tourists wishing to visit Ukraine has fallen sharply. The territories of Donbass and Lugansk remain undesirable for visiting. At the same time, Kiev, Lviv and other cities do not pose any danger to tourists.

The Central African Republic( CAR) is ranked 7th among the most dangerous countries for tourists. Visiting the country is dangerous because of the unstable political situation and unresolved territorial issues. The health system of Southern Sudan is in a deplorable state. The country is leading in terms of the prevalence of HIV infection, there are often epidemics of malaria, cholera, black fever. In South Sudan, rare diseases have been reported that do not occur in other countries.
