Activists from the public organization "Green Patrol", having analyzed a whole range of different indicators, compiled the environmental rating of the regions of Russia for 2013 .
On the leaders of the rating can be read below in our today's top ten. Well, among the outsiders were the Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk regions, as well as the Republic of Dagestan and the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area. Among the 83 regions, Moscow occupied the 64th line, and St. Petersburg - the 29th.

Despite the presence of machine-building and processing enterprises, the ecology of the region is considered quite favorable. The region is one of the smallest subjects of the Russian Federation.
9. Chuvash Republic
Chuvashia is mainly an agrarian region. The share of agriculture in the GRP of this entity is 2 times higher than the average for Russia. It is low urbanization that positively affects the ecology of the region.
8. Tomsk Region
Most of the region is covered with taiga. On the one hand, this creates problems for the development of infrastructure, but on the other hand it contributes to the preservation of the region's ecology. There are 15 zoological reserves and 145 natural monuments on the territory of the region.
7. Ulyanovsk Region
The main natural wealth of the region is the Volga River. In the coastal areas are preserved wooded areas in which there are picturesque recreation centers and boarding houses. Ecology of the region is facilitated by the absence of large industrial complexes.
6. Kursk region
Rich nature and attention to the protection of the environment make the Kursk region an ecologically attractive region. In the top ten of the rating the region enters annually, remaining approximately in the middle of the top-list.
5. Altai Territory
Like the neighboring Republic of Altai, the region has a unique nature. About 70% of the territory of the region is located in the basin of the Ob River. In the Altai Territory, up to 320 bird species and 90 mammal species can be found.
4. The Republic of Altai
The basis of the economy of this region is agriculture. The share of the urban population is only 26.6%.In Altai, tourism is developed - the beauty of local nature and clean air has long been appreciated not only by Russians, but also by foreign guests.
3. Chukotsky AS
Last year Chukotka ranked second in the rating. Favorable ecological situation in the region is explained by the absence of large industrial complexes, low density of population and almost untouched nature.
2. Belgorod region
This region in the south-west of Russia has significant forest areas - about 10% of the area is covered with forest. On the territory of the region 800 hectares of land are classified as specially protected areas - rare species of plants grow here, and several species of small animals listed in the Red Book live.
1. Tambov region
The region has been ranked the top line in the rating of the most ecologically attractive for several years already. Experts note that the region annually improves the indicators on environmental, socio - industrial and environmental indicators.
