For a long time it was believed that cleaning should be done exclusively with the help of cotton rags. It would seem - what else can you invent here? It turned out that it is very possible, and cloths made from some synthetic fibers are much more effective than cotton ones. What are microfiber napkins and what are they used for? We will now talk about this.

A bit of history

Clothing manufacturers have always tried to find new materials. And in the middle of the last century, they faced an unusual task - the rapid development of space programs began, and in many countries. We needed fabrics that were not only strong and durable, but also possessing a number of specific properties.

Polymers have already been obtained in the 1950s. Japanese scientists tried to pull the threads out of them. In the end they succeeded, and by the mid-1970s a new material was created. This was microfiber.

In the 1990s it was officially presented to the general public of many countries - it happened in Sweden. From this moment the victorious procession of microfiber across the countries and continents began.

What is being made of it?

Now microfiber is used in many areas. It is made of:

  • clothing;
  • thermal underwear;
  • filters;
  • upholstery for furniture;
  • cleaning products;
  • and much more - and the field of application is constantly expanding.

Important! Clothes and linen from this material are beautifully protected from heat and from cold - they belong to the category of so-called "climatic" products that can create comfortable conditions for a person in any conditions.

Furniture, upholstered with this fabric, is practical - the material is very durable, besides, it is easy to take care of.

What is microfiber?

Two kinds of fibers are used for making microfiber:

  • polyester;
  • polyamide.

Important! Polyester in such a fiber - 80%, polyamide, respectively, 20%.However, now for the production of material used and other polymers.

But not only the chemical composition, but also the structure is important. Microfiber consists of the finest fibers, entwined in a special way - it has a stellate middle and a split "periphery".This gives it very interesting properties:

  • softness;
  • abrasiveness;
  • hygroscopicity;
  • collects dirt well;
  • is easily erased;
  • dries quickly;
  • does not need detergents during cleaning.

Important! There are not so many materials that combine softness and abrasiveness. The thing is that the abrasive properties in this case - at the micro level.

A few more words about the properties:

  • Because the material consists of many very fine fibers, it absorbs water well and collects dirt.
  • In this case, like any synthetics, microfiber is perfectly cleaned and dries very quickly.
  • A distinctive feature of such napkins - dirt penetrates between the fibers, the surface of the microfibre cloth itself remains clean.
  • Dust it can accommodate as much as necessary, as, indeed, water. Their mass considerably exceeds the weight of the napkin itself.
  • As the microfibre cloth penetrates everywhere, the dirt removes almost everything.
  • It can with good reason be called antiseptic and antifungal. Special fabrics do not impregnate such a fabric, but antimicrobial tapes or individual fibers are woven into some products.

Important! Fibers of microfiber - many times thinner than human hair, so the fabric is twice as light as the thinnest silk. This napkin penetrates even the most secluded corners and the smallest cracks on the surface. What kind of cotton cloth is it capable of?

What are the napkins?

Microfiber products can be:

  • woven;
  • non-woven.

In the hardware stores nonwoven products are more common. They are very popular, because it is cheaper. However, the absorbent capacity of tissue woven wipes is higher, therefore, cleaning company employees who often have to deal with large surfaces often prefer the first option.

A microfibre cloth can be used for any kind of cleaning, however manufacturers of cleaning products produce several napkins:

  • universal;
  • for floors;
  • for glass.

Important! Universal microfiber napkins are designed for dry and wet cleaning. They can wipe furniture, dishes, windowsills, wares from faience, glass ceramics and much more. They are also suitable for metal surfaces. Among other things, a cloth made of microfiber has antistatic properties.

Napkins for glass:

Compared to universal, they are softer, outwardly resembling suede or velvet with very short nap. They are designed specifically for glass, and it does not matter where this glass is located - in an apartment, in a car or we are talking about crystal dishes.

Important! The main advantage of this napkin is that it leaves no divorce on this very whimsical material.

Dimensions of rags for glass can be very different. On sale you will find:

  • large, designed for windows and doors;
  • is very tiny, which is processed by microscope lenses.

Napkin for the floor

Should I buy an expensive microfibre cloth instead of an old T-shirt? If you appreciate the cleanliness and order - unconditionally:

A floor cloth made of this material perfectly absorbs moisture and collects almost all the dirt. With the same success it can be washed like an ordinary wooden floor, and exquisite parquet or a delicate laminate.

  1. Manufacturers have taken care that you do not have to cut anything and shred - the rag for the floor has a standard size of 50x70 cm.
  2. An important advantage - a microfibre cloth most miraculously collects the fur of pets, not to mention the fact that the rest of the tracksstaying in an apartment cats and dogs to clean with such a rag is much easier. And much faster than a cotton rag.
  3. Most cardinal - you do not need any detergents. This is especially important if there are people in the house who are prone to allergies. Of course, microfiber does not leave streaks, and such a rag is very convenient to clean and stains of fat in the kitchen, and traces of dirty feet in the hallway, and the floor work of your young artist in the nursery.
  4. It does not matter in which order to wash the apartment - there are no smells on the microfiber, so if you clean the kitchen first and then in the living room, there will not be any unpleasant consequences.

Legends of microfiber

Not all people immediately perceive the new. Some people tend to doubt and believe in fairy tales. There are myths about microfiber.

Myth First

Do not use detergent when cleaning with a microfibre cloth. This is far from the case. You can use it, but usually it is not necessary.

Important! If such a need arises, it takes about half the gel or powder than usual.

The second myth

It concerns the price. Some believe that microfiber is an expensive pleasure, available only to rich people. In fact, this has long been not so. Now many companies are engaged in the production of cleaning products from this material, which are trying to make napkins, gloves and everything else available to everyone. And it succeeds.

Important! Also note that you will save the cleaning agents, so even the most approximate calculations will be approximately the same.

Microfiber care

Microfiber towels and napkins can serve for a very, very long time. Of course, if you keep them in order and strictly follow the instructions. Unfortunately, the instruction manual is not always available in the package, but it will certainly be available from the seller at the hardware store.

Prohibitions

There are things that can not be done with such materials:

  1. It is not recommended to boil.
  2. Do not use bleach and air conditioners.
  3. You can not iron.

How long to erase?

The time that microfiber can serve is determined by the amount of washing. It is this indicator that should be looked for in the instruction.

Important! Typically, this napkin is designed for 500 washes.

Clinical companies usually use a three-day cycle calculation:

  • use;
  • laundry;
  • is ready for use.

The same cycle is convenient to use and in everyday life - the number of napkins that you need for quality cleaning of the entire room, you can calculate in advance.

Wash napkins

Microfiber cloths are unpretentious. They can be washed by hand or in the car. At the same time, a delicate mode is not required at all, it is possible to set a temperature of 90 ° C and any program.

Most likely, you will be wiping wipes together with some other products, so you need to consider the following:

  1. Things should be compatible, that is, they need the same mode and the same program.
  2. There should be a lot of water - the economy mode is not suitable in this case.
  3. The washing machine should be filled in half, not more.
  4. Microfiber cloths should not be placed in laundry bags.
  5. It is necessary to correctly calculate the amount of powder - it is important that there is no surplus.
  6. Temperature - from 60 ° С to 95 ° С.
  7. A detergent is needed without chlorine, phosphates, perfumes.
  8. Do not use air conditioner.

In this case, the most favorable mode is provided, under which the microfiber products do not deteriorate.

Important! Fragrances, as well as air conditioners, have the property of getting stuck between the fibers, so that the material loses its qualities, accordingly - cleaning becomes an inefficient and time-consuming task.

If you still have to apply bleach( for example, for linen or towels) - choose oxygen bleaching.

How to dry?

Drying products from this material can be anything - in the car, outdoors, even on the battery. Most often, electric drying is applied at a temperature of about 80 ° C - the napkins dry almost instantly.

Important! If disinfection is necessary, rags made of microfiber are washed at a temperature of 95-100 ° C, and dried at 120 ° C.

My machine

The machine can also be washed with microfibre cloths, and at the same time, with this example, you can disassemble how to use such napkins.

What is needed?

So, you need:

  • 2-4 napkins made of microfiber;
  • glove of the same material;
  • bucket;
  • hose.

Important! Very good, if you have the opportunity to wash the car in a self-service car wash, where there is a water pipe, a sink and a store with accompanying goods, in which you can buy napkins and gloves from modern cleaning matrials.

How to proceed?

  1. Place the machine in the shade.

Important! In the shade, you can wash the car more qualitatively. If you still have to do it in the sun - you need to wipe more quickly, otherwise there will be traces.

  1. Wash off dust and dirt - it's best to do with a hose, just make sure that the jet is not too strong.
  2. If you do not have the opportunity to use the hose, pour water into the bucket, and put a microfibre glove on your hand.
  3. Flush dirt from the bottom, so as not to miss anything.
  4. Imagine that the car is divided into 4 sections - you can even mentally number them.
  5. Wash the wheels - this must be done before you start to tidy the rest of the parts.
  6. Wash the first section of the body - the rag should be wetted, squeezed as often as possible.
  7. Rinse the washed area.
  8. Dry it with a second microfiber cloth, leaving no droplets.
  9. In the same sequence, wash the remaining areas.

Important! On a large car two napkins may not be enough, so it is better to buy rags with a margin. Do not worry - they will not be lost, you can use them for cleaning the apartment.

Now you know what microfiber napkins are, what they have properties, where they can be used and how convenient. We hope you made the right decision and were able to appreciate all the advantages of this approach to house cleaning.
