New rug from old things

From terry towels

Terry towels make soft and fluffy rugs. It's so nice to walk on them with bare feet.

To make it you need:

• old towels;
• scissors;
• sewing machine (needle and thread);

Preparation method:

1. Cut terry towels into small strips 3-4 cm wide.
2. Connect 3 strips of different colors.
3. Fasten them with threads, stitching the ends together.
4. Braid a pigtail from the strips.
5. Then sew the ends again.
6. Fold the resulting pigtails one on top of the other so that a long strip is obtained, sew with threads.
7. Fold the strip into a spiral, securing it with a thick thread.

From wine corks

Wine corks are an original option for creating various crafts for the home and garden. Wine bottle corks have several benefits. Firstly, they practically do not absorb moisture. Secondly, bacteria do not grow in the cork bark. This makes cork a material from which you can create crafts for rooms with high humidity.

For its manufacture, the following materials are required:

• wine corks;
• glue;
• knife;
• sandpaper;
• cutting board;
• rubber shower mat for the base.

Preparation method:

1. Wash the plugs in soap and water. There should be no wine stains on them. To accomplish this, you can soak the corks in bleach overnight.
2. Dry the material.
3. Cut all plugs into 2 pieces. To avoid damaging the table, you need to use a cutting board.
4. Smooth uneven sections with sandpaper.
5. Spread the plugs on the rubber mat with the cut edges down.
6. Glue the plugs with glue, starting from the edges, moving towards the center.
7. Wait for the rug to dry.

From old knitwear

You can find a lot of old knitwear in every home. They can even be used to create carpets. They can be knitted, woven, "braids", shaggy, patchwork rugs.

For manufacturing you will need:

• scissors;
• pieces of old (unnecessary) fabrics or old clothes;
• bath mat (with holes).

Preparation method:

1. Cut the fabric into small strips.
2. Use tweezers or a crochet hook to poke the strips through the holes in the bath mat.
3. Tie the strips in a knot.

From old jeans

Denim is a strong and durable material that can be used to create any design ideas, including a rug.

To make it you need:

• thick fabric for the base;
• scissors;
• needle and thread;
• jeans.

Preparation method:

1. Cut jeans into strips 20 * 80 mm.
2. Fold them in half and sew with the fold to the base.
3. Sew each subsequent fold to the previous one close to the side.
4. Start the second row, departing from the first 5 mm.
5. Thus, sew all the strips to the base.

From sea pebbles

A rug made of sea stones not only looks original, but is also good for health. In addition, it can be used to prevent flat feet.

Pebbles should be picked from the beach during your seaside vacation, or purchased from a hardware store or flower shop.

For manufacturing you will need:

• rubber bath mat (with holes);
• pebbles;
• silicone sealant;
• oilcloth.

Preparation method:

1. Place an oilcloth or unnecessary shower curtain on the floor.
2. Pour pebbles onto a rubber mat and smooth them out. The stones should be porous, not slippery, so that it is easier to glue them.
3. Stick the pebbles to the rug with a sealant.
4. Wait for the rug to dry. It is advisable to wait one day so that the stones will surely be fixed.

A rug made of old things with your own hands is not only an original design solution, but also the reuse of unnecessary things that are a pity to throw away. Such a piece of furniture will remind you of positive emotions and pleasant memories associated with the things of which it is made.
