Every girl dreams of becoming a fairy, but not every father can make a childhood dream come true! It took a Reddit user a full year and a half to complete his stunning project of redesigning a room for his only daughter. The girl always dreamed of a fairy house, just like in her favorite Disney cartoon, she wanted her to have your own magic tree, inside which you can sit and read books, sometimes climb branches or hide among foliage. For most of her peers, such a dream remained a dream. The baby's father (the author's name was hiding under the nickname Redams) decided to approach the implementation of the idea thoroughly and allocated a separate room for remodeling, which, in the end, was supposed to become a refuge for a small fairies. Everything was thought over - from the color of the walls and the choice of spotlights, to decorative elements, which turned out to be a great many.

Preparatory stage
To begin with, it was required to free the room, which used to be an office, of excess furniture. As it turned out, this was the easiest stage of the work. Then the man began drawing up a sketch of the structure. To begin with, I drew it on paper, a little later a blank was made of wire and plasticine. All the details were thought out to the smallest detail, including the beams, which were planned to be fixed on the ceiling of the room.
The sketch helped to plan where and how the hollows of the old oak will be formed, which in the future will play the role of decorative illuminated windows. In addition, such a model made it possible to accurately calculate the consumption of the materials forming the crown and the mesh for the frame. Who would have thought that the baby's father is not a carpenter or a decorator, but only an artist-animator of computer games. To come up with a project, the man had to revise several series of cartoons about fantastic and cute fairies. And work began on the implementation of the plans.
Stages of work
The first stage is the marking of the walls for the crown and the tree itself. For this, all sections of the floor and walls were numbered in order to accurately position the details and elements of the branches and the trunk, which, in turn, were also mirrored.
The next stage is the assembly of the wood frame from dense wire. This work required considerable physical strength, perseverance and time. To create voluminous branches, twists in the form of ovals were used. Some of the branches had to be fixed to the roof beams.
Large elements were welded with electric welding, the frame was attached to the wall with self-tapping screws and corners. The resulting "skeleton" was covered with a special mesh. Up to this point, all cables and wires were hidden inside.
The base of the tree was made of concrete plaster sweep, the branches were created using papier-mâché technology. Quite painstaking work that took more than one month. Each element has been sculpted by hand.
A little about the features of the choice of the mixture
Gypsum mix can be found in any building supermarket. Such plasters have all the necessary qualities, they dry well, and are quite simple to work with. The mixture is affordable and does not take much time to prepare. The advantage is availability and low cost. Do not forget that you need to dilute exactly as much composition as you will use. Otherwise, the mass will simply dry out. The material is capable of transferring the smallest details, if necessary, you can sprinkle the mixture with water.
To recreate the texture of natural wood, it was decided to paint the trunk in several layers.
First - dark brown paint, then golden, some elements were painted over with green shades.
The next stage is the design of decorative elements. Here, the author of the fairytale house has implemented all the knowledge in the field of design and decoration. The windows of the tree took on their final appearance, and real birds made their nests in the tree. The branches are so strong that they can support the weight of several adults.
“It wasn't easy, but I always kept my daughter's photo in the bedroom. Her smile helped me to cope with difficult moments, ”says the father. And now that the work has been completed, all efforts, all fears, all difficult moments have been forgotten. “But I'm afraid of the moment when she turns 13, and she will demand to remove all these baby things from the room,” smiles the baby's dad.
