For starters, not all paint is suitable for vinyl siding. Why? The answer is simple: the siding is made of plastic, and it has a dense surface structure that does not absorb paint and does not hold the film out of it well. In addition, siding exhibits linear expansion under the influence of temperature. For this reason, ordinary facade paints will not work, as they will peel off in the first year, and you will only waste time and money.
What paints are suitable:
- paints made of 100% acrylic for outdoor use;
- paints based on urethane-acrylic and latex;
- paints and varnishes used in industrial production;
- car enamels intended for plastic parts;
- rubber paints;
- specialized compounds for vinyl siding.
Car enamels, which are sold in spray cans, will cost you the most. They can only be used for some decorative elements.
As for specialized paints, these can be found on sale in large building materials stores or ordered on the Internet.
The price for such compositions also "bites", so acrylic paints for the facade are still the most profitable option. Take a better quality and more expensive - you will not regret it.
How to paint a vinyl siding facade
First, the facade must be thoroughly washed from dust and dirt, so soap compositions and brushes are used.
After cleaning, the siding must be sanded with fine emery. This procedure will improve the adhesion of the surface to the paint. And after sanding - treat the facade with an activator adhesion for plastic.
