In order for your room to be remarkably clean after repair, and there is not a trace of the primer materials, the following materials may come in handy:
- water;
- solvents;
- detergents and cleaners;
- soda;
- vinegar concentrate;
- abrasive sponge;
- special scraper with a blade.
Important! Before you start cleaning the dirt from the primer, you need to understand the features of this material.
What is a primer and what are its main properties?
Primer is a special building compound that is used at the joints of tiles to improve the adhesion of the facing material. If you do not use such a mixture during the repair work, which is often done by irresponsible workers for the sake of economy, the surface of the walls begins to crack, and the ceramic tile can simply crumble.
Important! To maximize the effect of using a primer, be sure to check the availability of a quality certificate from the selected material.
After hardening of the primer, it is difficult to wash it, since the building material does not soak under the influence of water, but can be dissolved with the help of chemicals. The cleaning should be carried out within two weeks, since at the end of this period the material will polymerize and it will simply not be possible to remove it.
Important! It is especially difficult to clean the primer from the relief tiles. Before cleaning, check the reaction of the tiled surface with a detergent. This can be done by treating the substance with a separate tile from a set of lining material.

When self-repair work is carried out, it is practically impossible to avoid the particles of the primer on the surface of the tile and linoleum. Even with the work of professional builders often remain specific pollution. Nevertheless, it is possible to protect the surfaces from contamination as much as possible and to protect themselves from unpleasant consequences:
- In order not to have to seek a solution than to wash the linoleum primer, completely cover the floor in the room with cellophane before doing any construction work.
Important! Places of joints of protective coating should be glued with a wide clerical tape, and the edges firmly fixed with a press or furniture staples.
- To prevent the occurrence of an allergic reaction, experts recommend that all construction work be carried out in protective clothing, gloves and a mask.
- Due to the fact that the primer has a sharp enough and aggressive smell, you should regularly ventilate the room.
Removing primer stains from different surfaces
If the mixture has fallen on the surface of a linoleum or tile, remove the dirt as soon as possible. For each material, special methods should be used.
Linoleum
If a fresh primer has come to the surface covered with linoleum, then as soon as possible, wash it off with water and a damp cloth. If the stain has frozen, then follow the following algorithm of actions to wash the primer from the linoleum:
- Abundantly moisten the contaminated surface and cover it with a damp cloth moistened with water.
- Leave the surface in this condition for several hours, giving the building material a good soak with moisture.
- Clean the swollen stain with an abrasive sponge with fine grain.
- Wipe the surface of the linoleum dry with a cloth.
Important! Large dirt can also be removed from the smooth surface of the linoleum with a special T-shaped scraper, which is sold in any construction shop and equipped with replaceable blades. Easy movements should be carefully cut off contamination at an angle of 30-45 degrees.
Ceramic tile
Than wipe the primer from the tiles after performing the cladding works? There are several ways to clean the ceramic surface, among which you can choose the most suitable option for you:
- If the stain is frozen, then the same primer will help you to get it out. Soak the stain with a primer with a similar material, so that the stain swells and becomes softer, and accordingly - it can be removed with a normal rag.
Important! Remember that the stains are rubbed off gradually, and accordingly - do not get upset if the desired result was not achieved after the first treatment. Just repeat the procedure until the desired result is achieved.
- A large and already stained spot can be cleaned with a scraper, which gradually removes the layers of contamination. Acting should be followed by accurate translational movements at an angle of 30 degrees.
Important! Minor residues of the building material can be cleaned with a detergent and an abrasive sponge to avoid damage to the tiled surface.
- It will help to wash the primer with tiles and acetic essence, which is an excellent solvent. With a cloth soaked in vinegar or an abrasive sponge of fine grain, the primer spot is easily removed from the surface.
Important! When working with aggressive substances such as acetic essence, you should observe all the necessary precautions, which consist in using a protective suit and gloves. The main danger of vinegar is the allocation of harmful substances in the process of evaporation, so do not forget to worry about the thorough ventilation of the room.
- In the modern construction market, you can find special cleaning agents, the main purpose of which is to remove the old stains from the primer, cement or gypsum. The most common is the cleaning agent ATLAS SZOP.
- It will help to dissolve and wash the primer from the tile and special cleaner of the mounting foam or alcohol. During the cleaning process, it is enough to moisten the stain with a substance and remove it with a scraper and an abrasive sponge.
- Household detergents, for example Dopomat or Hodrupa A, which are sold as a concentrate, will be no less effective for this purpose.
Important! Before using aggressive chemicals it is recommended to check the reaction of the tiled surface for cleaning on the sample or the least noticeable area of the coating. This precaution is required to prevent even greater damage to the coating.
