A dollar tree, or zamiokulkas, home care for which does not require much effort, not only enjoys great popularity in the greening of residential buildings, but also pleases the eyes of many cafes and employeesoffices. This is partly due to the fact that this tall plant with its green juicy leaves fits perfectly into any modern style, reminiscent of dinosaur landscapes. But an even greater incentive for its acquisition is the incredible unpretentiousness of the genus Zamioculcas, which makes it possible to put a pot with a dollar tree even in the busy and busy office. What should I do to make the zamiokulkas happy for you as long as possible? We have collected the basic rules of plant care, which will help you care for the flower.
Watering
Bringing home a new flower, we are primarily interested in how to properly water it, because the requirements are often strikingly different from the plant to the plant. For a dollar tree, one simple rule should be remembered: it is better to undercharge than pour over. According to his preferences, the zamiokulkas is somewhat similar to the unpretentious succulents: it is able to accumulate moisture, but not so much in leaflets as in root-tubers, so stagnant moisture in the pot or pallet for it can result in decaying roots or other diseases.
- Water the plant only when the ground to the touch is really dry.
- In winter, watering should be done about once a month.
- In the summer season it is worthwhile to water up to once a week, although it is worthwhile to monitor the dryness of the soil. To water it unnecessarily is not necessary.
- Provide a good drainage layer in the dish to protect the roots from decay.
- Do not water the plant with cold water, use standing water at room temperature.
Advice
A dollar tree does not have to be sprayed at all, but it is very desirable to gently wipe large enough leaves from the dust.
Lighting
It is also important to put the flower correctly, but as you have already understood, the zamiokulkas can equally well be located almost anywhere in the house. Since the flower likes penumbra, it is not necessary to put it on the windowsill - you can choose a good more or less illuminated place, for example, on a coffee table. In addition, hot summer rays can leave a burn on the plant, which will slow growth or even lead to the death of the flower. But if you go too far with the shadow, the zamiokulkas will strongly slow down its growth and may become deformed, so try to find the middle ground.
Tip
Periodically turn the bowl around its axis to make the flower beautifully formed, also do not forget to take a bowl with a flower to the fresh air on the balcony or garden if possible.
Temperature regime
The spread of temperature at which a dollar tree will feel "at ease" is quite large: from 15 degrees in winter to 29 in summer. Of course, in conditions of domestic maintenance to ensure a temperature of 15 degrees in winter will be quite problematic, but for zmiokulkasa it will not be a disastrous experience: it will slow down the growth a little, but in general it will feel just as comfortable, and to look after it somehow, another will not have to.
advice If you want to start a brightly flowering plant, the zamiokulkas can disappoint you: the chances of it blooming at home are negligible, and the flowers of Zamiaculcas can not be called very noticeable.
Transplant
The root system of zamiokulkasa is quite sensitive, therefore, except for the transfer of the entire soil coma, it is not recommended to transplant it. Dollar tree transplanted rarely: every 2-4 years, because the plant grows rather slowly. In this case, the pot should not be much larger than the previous one, and the depth of planting should remain the same.
Before transplanting a flower, it is recommended to check the roots of the plant for decay. If you see soft rhizomes with an unpleasant odor, do not be afraid to gently remove them with scissors - from such a ballast the plant will be only pleased to get rid of.
Council
We knowingly mentioned the similarity of dollar tree and succulents or cacti, because the ideal ready-made soil for it will be any ready-made soil mixture for these plants: loose soil with high air permeability and low acidity. The same can be said about fertilizers and fertilizing, with the help of which it is recommended to take care of the plant. Carry out feeding during the late spring and all summer so that the plant does not turn yellow and does not slow growth.
Reproduction
Zamiokulkas breeds quite easily vegetatively, and you have plenty to choose from.
- Propagation of zamiokulkas by cuttings is most popular: a young shoot is separated from the main bush and planted in a separate bowl or glass directly into the soil, which is a mixture of sand and peat. It would be superfluous to create the effect of the greenhouse by covering the stalk with a film or plastic cup. The best time for the reproduction of the flower will be May, and by the way, you can quite well try to multiply zamiokulkasa leaf.
- Less popular is the multiplication of zamiokulkasa by dividing the bush, when the flower's root is divided into several parts during the transplantation of the flower. But given the fact that the root system of the plant is sensitive to mechanical damage, it is not recommended to resort to this method, especially if you are a beginner.
It should be noted that the process of growth of zamiokulkasa lingering: for a year in an adult plant there are only 2-4 new leaves. That is why growing a flower from a handle or by propagating a leaf will require a lot of patience from you.
Advice
Seriously refer to plant plant, if your house has small children, because this flower is toxic. Also, be careful when transplanting and be sure to wash your hands if they get the juice of the plant.
Zamikulkas is a beautiful plant, the care of which will be able to even a novice lover, and to please you with its majestic appearance, it will be year-round if you follow the simple rules of keeping it at home.
