to Contents ↑Preparatory Step
Before washing, the glass is washed. First, with a soap solution, then rinse first with warm water and then with cold water.
For painting, use a conventional painting tool:
- Flange. Foam rubber tampon, soaked in paint.
- Roller for painting.
- Bristle face brush.
Glass painting - useful tips:
- The paint is spread to the consistency of liquid sour cream and applied to the glass with a thin layer.
- To avoid streaks, the glass is laid horizontally. If this can not be done, the staining is done with a flute with a minimum amount of applied dye, lines in a horizontal direction, from top to bottom.
Stained glass windows
Stained glass windows look very beautiful when the picture is made up of individual colored glass. Each glass is inserted in a frame made of lead( the frames are welded together). The technology of making stained glass itself is quite complicated and requires great skill. But the creation of imitation of stained-glass windows is quite realistic:
- The contour of glass on its own glass is drawn in 2 lines, using a special pencil "Steklograph".
- After that, the area inside the frame is neatly painted with a liquid oil paint.
- Then, over the field of the painting is applied a glyptal varnish.
Important! To make the painting "antique", on the surface of a half-dried lacquer draw cracks.

Another technology is decorative painting. On a glass surface 2 mm thick, a pattern is applied, and then another glass with the same thickness is glued along the perimeter. Installation of a decorative product is no different from ordinary glass.
What can I use to make drawings and stained glass on my own glass?
- Acrylic paints.
- Pencils "Steklograph".
- Oil paint.
- Nitro-color
- Glyphthalic dye.
Paint for glass with your own hands
The dye can be made by yourself. It consists of:
- Gelatin - 5 g.
- Water - 0.1 l.
- Color inks.
How to prepare the solution:
- Dissolve gelatin in water heated to a temperature of 50 to 80 degrees.
- Mix the ink with a gelatin solution.
- Apply the resulting paint, not allowing it to cool, on a clean glass surface, placed horizontally.
Another way to get the coloring material - from the old felt-tip pen. Pass a few drops of a weak vinegar solution through a felt-tip pen. To make the painting waterproof, cover it with a special varnish or glue another glass on top of it, blurring the ends.
Important! Applying the dye, which was previously shaken, you can create an artificially aged surface.
to the contents ↑Matt glass
They look very beautiful. It turns out that you can create a matte glass surface. For work you will need:
- Ordinary glass.
- Board with very smooth surface.
- Sifted river sand.
- Wooden trims.
- Small but massive board.
Nail the wooden boards along the edges of the board. They will serve as limiters, so that the glass does not slip off the board. Place the glass on top of the board. The further algorithm is as follows:
- Dampen the surface with plenty of water.
- Sprinkle with sand.
- Drive the plank over the surface of the sand in different directions. If necessary, add water and sand. Monitor the result by washing the sand and looking at the glass.
Drawing a black and white image of
These drawings look very impressive. If the paint for glass with their own hands is made correctly, it will last very long.
White dye
Consists of kaolin and silicate glue in a ratio of 4: 1.The method of manufacture is the simplest: rub the kaolin together with the glue.
Important! Apply the colorant on the glass with a pointed stick or feathers.
Black dye
Consists of silicate glue, polygraphic black and charcoal - 3: 1: 1 ratio. The method of preparation is as follows: mix the non-metallic containers with black, charcoal and silicate glue, then strain the resulting mixture.
Pickling compound
Specificity of this composition is that it penetrates into the glass. For this reason, you can not delete it. It is necessary to apply the drawing to the surface with extreme caution.
Important! It is desirable to first apply a pattern on the glass. The risk of unsuccessful paint application is significantly reduced.
This type of paint is prepared in two stages:
- First solution - 50 ml of distilled water, 6.5 g of hydrochloric acid, 1.5 g of zinc chloride.
- The second solution is 35 ml of distilled water, 8 g of sodium fluoride, 0.7 g of potassium sulfate
. Both solutions are prepared separately, and mixed before use - the first solution is added one drop to the second. To apply on the glass surface of an etching compound, a stick of wood or plastic is used.
Glass painting can not be called an overly complicated business, but this requires patience, accuracy and a bit of artistic ability.
