Apartment with a surprise
The famous house at 9 Tverskaya was built in the post-war period. After the move, Alexander Pankratov-Cherny noticed that condensation was accumulating on the ceiling in the bathroom, so he invited specialists to clean the ventilation duct. During the work, the craftsmen accidentally damaged the ceiling and were afraid that they had made their way to the neighbors.
In fact, there was a small room with an area of 10 m2. What it was: a secret room or the result of a mistake by the builders, remained a mystery, and no one began to figure it out. So, completely unexpectedly, the artist turned out to be the owner of a three-level apartment, in which a kitchen and a spacious living room with an area of 18 m were equipped on the ground floor2, on the second - a library-study, a third tier was allocated for the bedroom.
Traditional classics in the interior
Alexander Pankratov-Cherny prefers traditional classics without frills and ostentatious luxury. The floor is covered with a walnut-colored parquet board, the walls are painted light paint, textured wallpaper in peach colors was chosen for the bedroom. The main decoration of the house is paintings and photographs in strict frames. Interior doors decorated with frosted glass and panels.
The main place in the living room on the ground floor was occupied by a classic sofa and two armchairs made of solid wood with white leather upholstery. A chest of drawers with aged facades is ideal for upholstered furniture. Its table top is adorned with a collection of icons.
Favorite artist collections
Apart from icons and paintings, the actor collects stylish walking sticks. He has several antiques, but most of all he is proud of a copy made in China and donated personally by the famous actor Alexei Temerin. The cane is a tree entwined with a snake, on which the names of favorite children's fairy tales are carved.
The artist's wife also became a collector; she brings cute figurines from every trip that adorn all the shelves in their small apartment. The rest of the rooms are furnished without much luxury, but nevertheless very comfortable.
Small kopeck piece inherited
After the death of her father, the artist's wife got a small kopeck piece located on Mosfilmovskaya. Since the apartment has not been renovated for a long time, Alexander Pankratov-Cherny decided for the first time in his life to turn to designers to help make the space more functional and modern.
Modern design project
The designers were given a rather difficult task: to equip a modern interior in a small apartment and to emphasize the historical orientation of the old house. To implement all the daring plans, we chose traditional classics with elements of English luxury.
Repair sequence
The apartment was completely cleared of old finishes, and partitions were also dismantled. In addition, the designers combined the kitchen with the living room, resulting in a spacious 26 m2 room.2. For visual separation of the room, lightweight glass doors were installed.
English-style tiles were laid on the kitchen floor. A milky scale was used as the main background; a white-black-brown palette was chosen for the carpet ornament. Thanks to the strict geometric layout, the designers have achieved a visual expansion of the space.
They laid on the floor in the living room oak parquet from Switzerland in a warm shade of mocha. The outer side is covered with a protective layer that prevents mechanical damage. The ceiling surface was decorated with polyurethane moldings, the same decor was used for the walls.
For the walls, a color was also chosen, to which exquisite wallpaper with imitation of natural threads was successfully selected. All window structures were replaced with double-glazed windows made of wood, and modern milk-colored radiators were installed.
The living room has been fitted with an up-to-date sliding partition made of transparent glass with a diamond pattern. Solid wood interior doors, decorated with carved fittings and frosted glass inserts, are ideal for it.
Living room arrangement
A luxurious ChesterStyle sofa in milky tones and a small oak table with leather trim, decorated with forged decor and hand-stitched stitching were placed in the recreation area. Complements the ambience designer floor lamp. The curtains made of wheat-colored jacquard fabric and delicate tulle of a creamy shade were ideally matched to the tone.
On both sides of the door in a snow-white niche for the collection of figurines, shelves were made of glass with illumination in the upper part. The walls were decorated with posters of the 50s of the last century, they were collected by the father of the wife of Alexander Pankratov-Cherny.
In order to slightly dilute the English classics, the designers have decorated the sofa with decorative pillows with photo printing. A wooden stand console was installed for the TV. An elegant graphite-colored bench with spectacular carnations was placed next to it.
The modern design snow-white armchair does not quite match the classic setting, but it is successfully complemented by graceful dummy figurines brought from China.
Kitchen decoration
The furniture is made of MDF, the shade is in perfect harmony with the milky range of tiles on the backsplash. The ventilation pipes were covered with a box. The stylish stainless steel sink and chrome tap fit perfectly with the classic design.
Instead of the old windowsills, new ones made of marble with spectacular veins were installed. In the dining area, the main place was taken by a sliding table on a metal frame. Comfortable chairs were placed around, repeating the anatomical curves of the body. The window was decorated with small curtains made of delicate veils and a jacquard lambrequin.
Summary
In a two-room apartment, the designers managed to perfectly combine traditional classics and theatrical pop art, which is so suitable for creative people. The owners were surprised by the unexpected solutions, but were absolutely satisfied with the modern design.
