Features of choosing a place for a future structure
Boris and Tatiana Shcherbakovs have long been looking for land for the construction of a large country house instead of a small shield cottage. In 2001, they were offered to buy an allotment with an area of 60 acres, located in the Dmitrovsky district along the Leningradskoye highway. The couple, almost without hesitation, immediately agreed.
Three main criteria have become significant advantages when buying land:
- Convenient location, since the site was only 40 minutes from their capital apartment.
- The spouses are from St. Petersburg, so the northern suburbs are especially close to them.
- The most important thing is this stunning place, the site is located on the shores of a pristine lake, surrounded by a forest.
Project development
Initially, the couple decided that their ancestral nest would be made of a solid bar. Tatiana began to study suitable projects and soon invited Boris to build an estate with a huge terrace and a living room on two floors. In addition, she made her husband's old dream come true - fireplace from real marble and glass doors to the courtyard, through which a stunning view of the picturesque lake opens.
Karelian pine with a particularly dense and durable structure was chosen for the construction of the house. She was found in Petrozavodsk and taken to the site. The main feature of the construction of the nest was the old technology, which made it possible to assemble the frame of the mansion like a designer, without using a single nail.
Boris hired builders, and within the given time frame a real Russian tower grew. The actor is grateful to the craftsmen from Karelia, who lovingly laid each log. The guys worked conscientiously, they did not need to be controlled or rushed. To prevent the frame from skewing, spacer screws were inserted between the logs.
Success depends on the professionalism of the workers
On this, the luck of the owners of the house ended, because they fell for unscrupulous craftsmen. At first, the Shcherbakovs could not deliver for a whole year kitchen, then there were no fittings, then the workers made a mistake with the sizes. Then it turned out that the built-in appliances were of poor quality, for example, dishwasher they still cannot use it fully.
But it was especially unlucky with the builders who were hired to build a bath complex with an indoor pool. There was no way to control the workers, so the team, having received an advance payment, began to cheat and cheat. A lot of material went to the side, instead of this, low-quality beams and insulation were used. As a result, the construction of the complex took three whole years, the second team was hired, and the first one had to be dealt with through the courts.
Interior decoration of the Russian tower
The wooden structure was covered with hemp, kilometers of which were specially purchased in Yaroslavl. In order to secure the wiring, grooves were drilled in the logs. The most important room is the living room with a second light. As planned, a marble fireplace and glass doors were installed here so that you can admire the picturesque nature.
The living room occupies almost the entire first floor; much less space has been allocated for the kitchen, dining room and a small hallway. On the second tier, three bedrooms and a bathroom with a toilet were equipped.

Homestead decorative elements
For home improvement Boris Shcherbakov used sacristy, paintings and icon frames made with his own hands. They took pride of place in a large corridor, as if specially designed for such an exhibition. The actor donates many hand-made works of art to his friends, but the furniture remains in the family.
Museum and other buildings on a huge personal plot
Boris Shcherbakov hung two signs under the roof of the unique building:
- Shcherbakova Street.
- "Passage of the Moscow Art Theater".
The second sign was dismantled during the renovation of the Moscow Art Theater and was miraculously preserved by Leonid Gubanov. Many years later, Leonid's widow, on occasion, donated it to Boris Shcherbakov.
The walls of the museum are decorated with ancient spinning wheels, rakes, vegetable cutters, unusual scissors, rocker arms and grips - and this is not a complete list of unique tools.

A deep well was dug not far from the museum, several flower beds and beds were laid out, and a real garden was planted. The facade of the house is decorated with ornate carvings, on which Boris Shcherbakov worked for many months.
