Twelve materials to make hot coasters

Things that have served their time are most often thrown away. But the hands of the master are able to create very interesting things even from unnecessary trash, for example, hot coasters. They not only reliably protect work surfaces from damage, but can also be a unique kitchen decor.

Wine corks

Corks, a knife, a glue gun and a sturdy plywood or cardboard base will allow you to assemble the original model. The stand can be given different shapes - rectangular, square, heart. The edge is decorated with a ribbon.

The plugs can be cut or used whole. Replace tapes with wire, wooden strips, metal strips. The elements are attached to the base in parallel rows, in a checkerboard pattern, or, forming some kind of ornament. The color is left natural, or the surface is painted with acrylic paints.

Chopsticks

Strong wooden sticks or skewers are connected with glue or threads in the form of a square or rectangle. Sticks can be placed both close and at a short distance from each other. An openwork stand in the shape of a lattice looks beautiful.

You can do it in two ways: just glue two levels of parts together (the air gap will save the surface table even under a very hot baking sheet) or insert the upper parts into the grooves of the lower layer prepared in advance and smeared with glue. The sticks are very hard - the latter option takes a lot of time, diligence and a good command of the instruments.

If you fasten the parts with threads (so the product will acquire an oriental flavor), then notches are made on the sticks for strength. Sharpened skewers are best trimmed and sanded.

Old jeans

The shape, type and method of making a fabric stand depends only on the amount of material and your creative imagination. Products from bulky denim bundles twisted in a spiral look very reliable and interesting.

Or you can assemble a stand from pieces of fabric using the patchwork method - sew a bag and lay it with a layer of padding polyester. Decorate with applique, fringe or braid.

CD-disks

Products made from discs are perfectly round. To prevent the disc from sliding on the table, a backing is attached to it with glue or double-sided tape. The top is sheathed with a fabric that must withstand high temperatures - cotton, linen, denim, felt, felt. Better yet, fasten two elements, between which to make a volumetric layer - such a stand will be more convenient to use.

If you have chosen a spectacular design, then hang the finished product on the kitchen wall - it will become a colorful element of the decor. You can even create a whole thematic composition - abstract or in the form of a flower. These neat mugs are perfect for hot plates, tea and coffee cups.

Newspaper tubes

Newspapers and pages of glossy magazines are very simple and affordable raw materials for home creativity. This will require newspapers, PVA glue and a knitting needle to shape the sheets into tubes. Collect the stand in a circle from the center or basket weaving.

For strength, the finished product can be additionally coated with PVA glue and painted in the desired color.

Coffee beans

To make the stand you will need: base, superglue, degreaser and coffee beans. Brown grains are attached to a previously degreased base surface. Grains, densely packed in rows or arranged in a colorful mess, look unusual and smell good.

The glued grains are pressed from above with some not very heavy object, for example, a book, and left for a day. And to put on the finished product, so as not to damage the grain, you can only light cups and saucers.

Clothespins

An unusual idea - a stand made of parts of clothespins without metal springs, glued to a sheet of plywood or cardboard.

The design can be made very unusual, for example, lay out the elements in the shape of the sun. At the end of the work, having admired the creation, the author can paint the craft with bright colors or leave a natural shade.

Twigs

From twigs, base and glue, you can easily create an interesting stand. The ornament is formed with thick twigs, and the gaps are filled with small residues.

Both PVA glue and superglue will do. Any tree is used, but birch is worth recommending - birch bark does not rot and will last a long time. In this case, the pattern can be laid out the most bizarre. The finished work is dried under the press for a day.

Bottle caps

To make the stand you will need: fishing line or wire, an awl, a needle and covers. Parts are connected through holes made with an awl in the side walls of the covers.

Colored plastic covers make bright, lightweight items that are easy to care for. To secure the covers firmly to each other, you need to repeat each stitch several times. The knots are melted with a lighter - they will not stick out and will not come loose.

Threads

A crochet hook and colored balls are all you need to make soft knits. They can be given any shape, and the color will depend only on the contents of your craft box. The stand is made thin or multi-layered.

You can also make a craft according to the principle of weaving from a vine. The threads stretched over the frame are intertwined with another yarn. So that the finished small rug does not crumble, two identical parts are formed, which are tied together with a fringe.

Buttons

Buttons are glued to the backing or sewn on. The choice of colors and shapes of elements does not matter - the more varied the buttons, the more beautiful the mosaic.

You can even lay out an ornament or a picture - fruits, flowers, a sketchy image of animals or fairy-tale characters. It will look fresh and original. For the base, choose any materials - from felt to plaster.

Matches

Making a stand out of matches takes a lot of time - painstaking work requires accuracy. But the result is amazing, delicate creations.

Matches are pre-prepared: cut, burned or picked up with multi-colored heads. To fasten the elements, glue or thin wire is used. Matches can be replaced with toothpicks.
