Ideas for creating unusual and original photo frames

Photos are something that will never go out of fashion and will not be superfluous in any home. They help us revive and preserve the memory of the happy moments of life. But sometimes you really want to see not just photographs in purchased frames, but to create something special.

From natural materials

Natural materials are highly valued in everything, and photography is no exception.

One of the options is to transfer the finished photo onto a wooden plank. To do this, first print the photo on special waxed paper, and then transfer the image to a wooden surface.

As a result, you will get a board with a picture, which looks very unusual and beautiful. The only condition is that the tree must be unprocessed, otherwise nothing will come of it.

You can also take a mini-photo, they are transferred to wooden surfaces, but ice cream sticks, trimmings from wooden window glazing beads, remnants of slats are already used here. Such small photos can simply be laid out around the room in prominent places, or you can make a real mini-collage out of them by sticking them on the base.

Ordinary cubes for children look good as original photo frames. Photos are printed on wood cubes, and photos printed on thin paper are simply glued to glass cubes on each side.

From egg trays

For this you will need paper trays. Cut out individual cells from them, and then form a rose from each.

This is done quite simply - the edges of the cell are notched and bent to the sides, another cell can be inserted inside so that the petals of the future rose overlap each other by half. Everything is fixed with glue.

The more material is used to form one flower, the more luxuriant it turns out. Then all the flowers are glued to the base of the frame close to each other - in the end, everything looks very unusual! This design is great for romantic photos and landscapes.

From foamiran

Foamiran is a foamed thin rubber, environmentally friendly and outwardly reminiscent of multi-colored sheets of thick cardboard.

Decorating a finished photo frame with such material is simple - just attach sketches to the foamiran sheet, circle and cut out the resulting figures.

Such figures can be made voluminous with an iron, and beautiful reliefs can be formed from them. Figures are simply glued to the frame with a glue gun.

Flowers, hearts, pigeons and swans look great on frames with wedding photos. Animals, colorful flowers and colorful puzzles are suitable for children's frames. Everything here will entirely depend on your imagination.

From buttons

Buttons are also a great decor option for photo frames.

If these are flat buttons, then they are simply glued to the frame. Children's photos are decorated with bright colored buttons, more serious images are usually decorated with buttons matched to match. Photos depicting the sea and ocean look great in frames decorated with buttons with anchors.

If the frame is soft, covered with fabric, then you can even sew special buttons on the legs to it, which also looks no less interesting.

From colored pencils

You can decorate a ready-made frame with pencils, or make a frame out of them from scratch.

Several colored pencils are taken and connected exactly parallel to each other with glue in one plane (the number of pencils depends on the desired frame thickness). This will be one side of the frame, the other 3 sides are similarly done. Next, the sides are connected to each other using wire or the same glue. 2 layers of thick film are glued from the back, a photo is then inserted into the resulting pocket.

If you want to decorate the finished frame with pencils, they just stick to it. But then you have to select the size of the pencils so that it exactly matches the size of the frame.

From old window frames

Few people thought about building a real frame for a photo or painting from a window frame, although this is not difficult at all.

It is enough just to squeeze the glass out of the frame, remove the hinges, clean it of paint, close up all the holes and cracks, and then cover it with a layer of varnish or paint. The photo is inserted directly into the place where the glass was. You can also not remove the glass, but simply slip the photo under it, but this is suitable if the thickness of the photo corresponds to the opening in the glass frame.

Of course, such large frames are suitable for spacious rooms; such a massive photo on the wall is unlikely to be appropriate in a small apartment. But the service life of such a frame is practically unlimited, and you can decorate it with anything your heart desires.

Of yarn (and fabric)

Most needlewomen use this decor, since it is the simplest and most affordable.

When decorating a finished frame, the threads are simply glued to it, as a result, the frame takes on a three-dimensional appearance. You can also sheathe a wooden frame with fabric using furniture staples. And the foam rubber placed under the fabric will make the frame also soft.

One of the options for a frame made entirely of threads is a strong rope, from which an irregularly shaped geometric showcase is created by means of clips glued to the wall and twisting. Both the photos themselves and parts of the rope will be attached to the clamps.

You can also simply hang a photo of the card by pieces of yarn attached to a wooden stick or even on a cornice.

From cereals

Like beads, cereals will help decorate a simple, classic frame.

To do this, you only need transparent silicate glue. The glue is evenly applied to the frame only in those places where you want to decorate it, and then groats are poured there. It can be semolina, buckwheat, rice, millet, etc.

You just have to wait until the cereal grabs with the glue and everything is dry (usually it takes a couple of hours). Unlike colored beads, cereals look simpler, but calmer. Frames decorated with cereals are suitable for any interior. They are especially suitable for home family photos.

There are a lot of ideas for decorating photo frames, but it is not necessary to follow the recommendations and step-by-step instructions impeccably. Even a separately taken ready-made idea can be supplemented with something new or altered, as a result you will get a frame that no one else has.
