Strong coffee

This dye gives the fabric not only a pleasant vintage, but also an incredible aroma. To do this, the segment must be completely immersed in the prepared drink, while it is not recommended to use instant coffee for brewing, as the color may turn out to be unnatural. Additionally, aromatic substances, such as vanilla, can be added to the liquid.

After soaking in coffee, the canvas should be laid out on a baking sheet covered with several layers of parchment, and the fabric should be sent to the oven for half an hour at a temperature of 100 degrees.

Walnut shell

For coloring, both the shell and the dry green shell of the walnut fruit are suitable. To do this, the raw material is placed in an enamel pot with water in a ratio of 1:10, after which the water is heated to 80 degrees for 4 hours. Next, the liquid is filtered and used for its intended purpose.

It is recommended to wash, rinse, boil the canvas immediately before staining for 1 hour. After that, you can paint at a temperature of 80 degrees for 45 minutes. After this time, rinse the canvas with running cold water and dry in the shade.

Cinnamon

For coloring the canvas, both powder and a cinnamon stick are suitable. In both the first and second cases, the “dye” must first be brewed, and then the material itself must be boiled in the resulting broth.

Turmeric

Thanks to this spice, the canvas can be dyed in a pleasant orange color. To do this, the powder must first be combined with warm water, and then immersed in the resulting liquid the required piece of material.

Tea

With this tool, you can get the effect of spots that appear on the canvas over time. To do this, you need to brew strong tea, and then apply it to the fabric with a wide flat brush number 8 or 9.

To make the spots more pronounced, you can:

  • put a piece of cotton fabric under the canvas, which will absorb some of the liquid, and then, as it dries, will give it back;
  • after application, dry the painted canvas with a hairdryer;
  • leave tea leaves on the fabric, which will make certain areas darker.

The final result will depend on the strength and type of brewing, soaking time, solution temperature.

Berries

With the help of natural dyes, you can get almost any desired color:

  • blue - blackberries, flowers Ivan da Marya;
  • purple - blueberries;
  • green - juniper fruits;
  • red - ripe elderberries, oregano;
  • orange - sea buckthorn berries.

The use of vegetable dyes allows you to achieve a natural color that will not fade and wash out.

For coloring, the raw material must be crushed, boiled in clean water (preferably distilled or rainwater). After that, the broth must be evaporated, due to which the color of the color will be more intense. Strain the liquid before use.

Onion peel

Onion skins will dye the fabric a pleasant reddish brown. The dyeing principle is the same as with any vegetable dye.

Potassium permanganate

To paint the canvas, you will need a concentrated solution of potassium permanganate, which can only be prepared in an enamel bowl. The liquid should be dark, almost black in color.

First, the solution must be heated, and then the fabric should be dipped into it in such a way that there are no creases and bends. Stir the canvas constantly to keep the color even. To enhance the effect, salt can be added to the potassium permanganate solution. Now the canvas needs to be dipped in cold water with a little vinegar. Thanks to this, the color will not be washed out later during washing.

If necessary, the procedure can be repeated, however, when assessing the result, it should be borne in mind that dry fabric looks lighter than wet.

Primer

A gold or silver primer will help give the canvas shine. The staining technique in this case is as follows:

  1. Dilute the primer with water until a homogeneous mass is obtained.
  2. Cover the desired area with the resulting paint, wait until it dries.
  3. Now you need to use paint to match the canvas. Dip a flat brush into it, then squeeze it out on a sheet of paper and, in a semi-dry state, gently run it over the surface. Thanks to this, the paint will remain on the upper points of the relief, and gilding will shine on the lowlands.

Acrylic paints

It is best to use those acrylic paints that need to be fixed with a hot iron after application. You can apply the dye in several layers, which will make the color more saturated and intense.

Regardless of the method of staining and the dye used, it is recommended to check the selected technique on a small piece of canvas.
