The beast putty for any renovation: homemade recipes

We are already very firmly entrenched in comfort. Take, for example, plastic windows that do not need to be painted or putty. If the putty is suddenly needed, then any hardware store is full of ready-made mixtures for any needs. But in fact, there are probably still wooden frames in the garage, bathhouse or gazebo in the garden, and they are in dire need of repair. Store-bought putties, of course, are convenient, but most of them do not even match the putties that our parents made themselves. As, by the way, and old windows - for someone they are fundamentally better than sealed plastic. So let's revive some old recipes and roll up our sleeves.

A good putty is better than any glazing bead

Wooden windows cannot be as tight as plastic ones. Wood is a living material, it “breathes”, swells and shrinks, therefore cracks appear through which it begins to blow. You can, of course, carry out repairs by replacing the glazing beads, but the result will be short-lived, because the glazing beads are also wooden. So, whatever one may say, better than putty has not yet been invented.

An important condition is high-quality adhesion to wood surfaces. In addition, the putty must be resistant to temperature changes and have good plasticity in order to fill even the smallest gaps.

Tar-based putty

The only drawback of this recipe is that the putty turns out to be black. But on the other hand, it is very durable, and blackness can be painted over - not a problem. And this putty is great for healing trees in the garden.

For its preparation, the tar is melted over low heat. The process is not fast - it will take 2 hours. Then sifted ash is added to it and kneaded until a consistency close to the dough is obtained.

Dough putty

This recipe is for those who need a quick fix. To prepare the putty, you will need the most common flour and fine sifted sand. Flour and sand are mixed in equal proportions, water is added and a sticky, viscous dough is kneaded.

Chalk putty

The putty made according to this recipe has a special property - it is heat-resistant. So if you need to repair the window in the steam room, there is no better option.

For a heat-resistant mixture, you need chalk and water glass. Just mix these two ingredients and paint over the crevices.

Linseed oil putty

A very popular recipe for those who prefer to leave wooden frames in their home. It contains only a couple of ingredients. This is linseed oil, which you can buy at the pharmacy, and regular chalk, which is used for whitewashing. Both are easy to find. Just connect these two components and go.

Instead of linseed oil, in principle, you can use drying oil - this mixture hardens faster. But speed in this matter is undesirable.

Plaster putty

It is clear that you cannot cover up the windows with ordinary plaster - everything will instantly crumble. But if you still have a plaster mixture, it is very simple to make a putty: mix it with drying oil or refined vegetable oil.

Lard putty

It turns out that this is possible. Instead of vegetable oil, use warm ghee with chopped rosin and chalk.

The main advantage of this putty is that it can be stored for a very long time - just put it in an airtight container. For 2 equal parts of lard and rosin, add 10 parts of chalk powder.
