The magical time of Christmas and New Year is approaching, so I really want everything in the house to remind of these wonderful holidays, which are especially loved by children. In Europe, it is customary these days to buy or create Christmas or New Year's houses with your own hands, which can be used as a decoration or a night lamp. A variety of materials are suitable for their manufacture: cardboard, bottles, felt, newspaper tubes, etc. Experts Homius have found and prepared for you interesting master classes on creating a Christmas house out of handymen materials.

Christmas house shaped night lamp for children's room
The proposed master class found on the YouTube channel “Crafts Homemade”May seem difficult, but only in terms of time. Even a child can make a Christmas house-night light. For manufacturing you will need:
- newspaper (many);
- scissors;
- PVA glue;
- wooden skewers for barbecue;
- hot glue with a gun;
- sequins;
- a large needle with a wide eye and woolen threads in white, black and blue (you can use any thread you like);
- stationery knife;
- beads and beads;
- felt-tip pen and round permanent marker;
- whatman;
- wire or one piece from a cleaning brush;
- battery-powered LED candle lamp.
When everything is ready, you can start creating a Christmas house. We act as follows:
Illustration | Description of action |
We cut the newspaper into strips of 2-3 cm wide and use wooden skewers to twist the tubes (the more, the better, as they can be useful for other crafts)
We fix the edge of the tube with clerical glue.
We take a felt-tip pen or a marker for CDs and wind a newspaper tube on it, making rings
You should get these rings, which will be the main building material for the house
We wrap the resulting rings with white, blue or blue yarn, but, in principle, you can choose any color
You should get these "bricks" for the house
Using hot glue, we connect the rings to each other in 2 or 4 pieces
The front walls should be pentagonal, and the side walls should be completely square.
Now we wrap a few tubes with white yarn. These will be blanks for platbands, doors, roofs and glades.
We cut the tubes to the size of the future window. The cuts should have an angle of approximately 45 °. We connect the segments to each other
You should get such a side wall blank with a window
Now from several segments we glue the door of the house
We attach the door to the wall of the house and decorate with a bead
We connect the blanks of the walls to each other
It turned out like this box of the house. Now we cut out a roof blank with sides of 9 and 12 cm from whatman paper
Using hot glue, we attach the roof to the house
We make roof cladding from segments of straight tubes with white yarn
Approximately in the middle of the roof we make a cutout for the chimney
From the rings wrapped in white thread, we glue the chimney
We fix the pipe on the roof and cover it to the end
From the remaining straight tubes we make a base or a clearing
We make four rings of two sizes from newspaper tubes
We make blanks for a snowman from two rings of different sizes using a needle and white yarn
You should get two fluffy circles, which we connect together with hot melt glue.
We wrap the remaining two rings with black yarn and connect them together, as shown in the photo
It turned out a hat, which we put on a snowman blank
Using hot glue and beads, we make a snowman's nose
With a marker, draw the eyes and mouth
But the base of tubes with white yarn is set up a house, but we do not fix it rigidly (just trying on)
Install a snowman next to the house, fixing it with hot melt glue
Wrap a part of the brush or wire wrapped in white yarn around a thick marker. It should make a spiral
We insert the spiral into the chimney of the house. The result is an imitation of smoke coming from the chimney.
If desired and for greater effect, sprinkle the composition with sparkles.
We put an LED tea light on the base and turn on
We cover the candle with a house, and the original Christmas night light for the child is ready |
Such a beautiful and original Christmas house-night light can be made in just a couple of evenings, one of which will be spent on preparing newspaper tubes.
Christmas house-lamp made of cardboard
Someone decorates only windows: paper snowflakes and painting on glass, electric garlands around the frame and tinsel hanging from the curtains. And few people use a window sill on which original compositions and decorations can be placed. We suggest considering another version of a Christmas lamp house that will help transform the windowsill and add magic to the holiday.
To make a lamp house you will need:
- corrugated cardboard from packaging for household appliances (it is much harder than ordinary cardboard);
- pieces of fabric;
- ribbon or braid;
- stationery glue in the form of a pencil;
- hot glue with a gun;
- ruler, pencil, scissors, stationery knife.
And now let's move on directly to making the house:
- We decide on the dimensions of the future house, after which we cut out 2 ordinary squares and two with a top (pediment) from cardboard. We also cut out the roof, the width of which should exceed the length of the wall.
- Make rectangular or square cutouts in the walls that will serve as windows.
- We take a piece of fabric that is larger than the wall blank and use a glue stick to glue it onto the cardboard. Wrap the excess inside and glue it.
- In place of the window openings, we make a cross-shaped cut and also wrap the fabric inward. From the inside we glue the transparent fabric and braid. We glue the ribbons crosswise - this will be a window binding.
- We assemble the house by connecting the walls and roof to each other with hot melt glue.
Wall cladding can be made from different materials; cotton wool can be added to the roof, which will imitate snow. The house will become an excellent New Year's decor for the windowsill, and if you put an LED candle lamp inside the structure, you will get an original night light.
A few words in conclusion
The tradition of making Christmas houses came to us from Europe. It is customary to make them with the whole family, and any materials are used: cardboard, felt, bottles, polystyrene, etc. The houses look great on a windowsill, bedside table or Christmas tree, and can also be used as night lights. We hope that the master classes provided by us were of interest to you, and if you have your own original ideas, then share them with other readers.
