What will happen to the rental housing market due to the pandemic

Many Russians who go to work in large cities, perhaps because of the loss of their jobs, will refuse to rent apartments in megacities. For example, in the northern capital in March 2020, the average rental prices of the most popular housing decreased by almost 2%.

At the same time, many tenants are already beginning to turn to apartment owners with a request for some reduction in the cost of housing. However, while the owners of square meters are only ready to offer an installment plan to pay off the overdue rent. One-off cases of early termination of lease agreements have already appeared. Most often, the reason is the desire of tenants to move out, refer to moving to other regions where they were offered a job.

However, it is too early to talk about a serious collapse of the rental housing market. It all depends on the situation with the spread of coronavirus and the further steps of the Government of the Russian Federation to support those industries that are experiencing financial difficulties. As an advice to landlords for retaining a client, you can only offer one thing - a reduction in rental prices from 5% to 7%.
