What is in the factory liquid wallpaper?
Before taking on the independent manufacture of this finishing material, it is worth understanding what liquid wallpaper is. First of all, these can be mixtures of a neutral white color, the task of which is to create a texture for painting. They can be painted immediately, adding color when mixing, or you can purchase a composition with a ready-made color, uniform or consisting of several shades.
Why is liquid wallpaper so popular?
This type of finishing material has a lot of attractiveness. First of all, liquid wallpaper is undemanding to the base. They can be applied to wood, concrete, brick, OSB, as well as to surfaces with defects: small irregularities, cracks, etc.
Liquid wallpaper has anti-static properties, so that the walls do not accumulate dust. The coating has no seams and joints, it does not fade. And finally, the components of liquid wallpaper do not support combustion.
What can liquid wallpaper be made of?
It is not difficult to make liquid wallpaper, and the materials for them will cost you literally a penny.
The easiest option is to take paper waste as a basis. These can be the remains of newspapers, drafts, notebooks, wrappers and packaging.
The soaked paper mixture is kneaded with a construction mixer until smooth, then PVA glue and color are added. The mixture should be allowed to soak for some time and properly stained.
This process is common to different fillers. As a backfill, you can take small sawdust, pieces of bark, granite chips, coarse river sand.
Even ordinary cotton wool can be a filler, but it must be thoroughly crushed. Leftover yarn, fringes, or pieces of fabric will do. Of course, provided that all this is unraveled on threads, followed by cutting.
The mixture should be tinted with a universal water-based color scheme. If it is necessary to achieve color heterogeneity, then first the mixture is mixed with the main color, and the second tone is added before the application itself and is not mixed until uniform.
Technique for applying liquid wallpaper
Before applying liquid wallpaper, the walls are primed. There is no point in leveling the surface to perfect condition - with a 2-3 mm layer of wallpaper, you can easily mask small irregularities.
The decorative coating is applied with a spatula or trowel. Considering that the composition with gypsum sets quickly, it is better not to mix a lot of material at once, but to divide it into small equal portions. This way you will avoid color imperfections and surface irregularities.
