Special requirements and safety precautions

Even if you installed the gas equipment yourself, you can use it only after being inspected by a specialist in the responsible service for possible leaks. After such an inspection, you will be given permission to operate the device. This applies to all types of heating appliances. With the stove it is a little easier - no special permission is required for its installation and operation, but this is only if you change the device. But when the gas is initially connected, in order to get the go-ahead, you need to call a specialist and get ready to fulfill all safety requirements, the main of which is the presence of a ventilation hood. Now, when you first connect, they will not accept an ordinary gas stove without an automatic gas shutdown system. This requirement baffles many, because such plates are on sale, but their cost differs from simpler models. But what to do, it is unlikely that it will be possible to bypass this requirement.

You will not be given the go-ahead to connect if you have somehow interfered with the factory design of the device.

In addition, it is important to follow simple safety requirements: do not use a faulty stove, do not allow small children to access it, do not leave the device turned on unattended.

What the master will check when installing the stove on his own

Any check will start with the documentation. On hand must be a registration certificate for housing, passports for gas equipment and a meter, a connection agreement and payment receipts, if the gas is already connected.

The device should be installed strictly horizontally, without distortions and be in a stable position. Modern slabs are easy to align thanks to the rotating legs. If not provided in the model, use stable backing made of hard materials.

All taps on the plate should be easy to turn, and the adjusting taps on the supply pipe should be freely accessible and at such a height that an adult can easily shut them off. This requirement is due to safety measures: if a leak occurs, thanks to free access, the fuel supply can be easily and quickly shut off.

The slab must be installed with a certain clearance relative to the wall. The size of the gap is indicated in the technical data sheet of the product.

If you do not want problems with the connection, use only a certified hose with a passport, designed specifically for gas equipment, and not for water supply, as is often done. Water supply hoses with red and blue markings quickly fail, and specialized gas ones differ from them in greater flexibility and durability.

The length of the hose should be no more than 1.5 m, no twisting or bending at right angles is allowedPHOTO: lcn.ru

All joints will be checked for tightness, so when connecting independently, be sure to use the seals "Loktayl 55" or FUM. The tightness is checked by soaping.

What troubles can there be when connecting on your own

So, what is worth fearing and what you should pay attention to when connecting a gas stove on your own:

  • in the event of a leak, it will not be possible to quickly shut off the gas due to the inconvenient location of the valves;
  • the hose may burst in the place of a strong bend, which will inevitably lead to a leak, or if the hose is tightly pulled, a leak will occur at the point where it is connected to the stove or gas pipeline;
  • lack of grounding in the socket to which the stove is connected can provoke a short circuit and an explosion if gas leaks.

Call the emergency services immediately if you smell gas in the room, first close the valve and open the windows for ventilation.
