If you got a perfectly flat area - considered unlucky. But this is not always, and difficult terrain makes truckers to adapt and find ways to help compensate for irregularities. One such option that can be called traditional - Terrace. It is these structures allow to correct the slope with any degree slope and land on it any seedlings. In this regard will be very useful experience Samoilova Catherine and her mother, Victoria Andreyevna. They have equipped terraces and captured the whole process in the photos, which are sent to the editor HouseChief.

Good afternoon! My mother and I have long dreamed of their own plot of land, and finally this dream came true: we bought a small house with 10 acres of land in the suburbs. I can not say that we casually approached the site selection. We liked the space and location of the site close to the road, as well as the availability of water supply conducted. But now and then, already in practice, we discovered two annoying flaws. Land in the area was terrible, clay and rocky, and in addition, there was a slight slope, because that all our irrigation was useless: the water does not have time to soak into the ground and just dripped way down. This is what prompted us to do the construction of terraces.

Preparing and processing of materials

The construction of the terraces we come with great responsibility. Decided not to use the improvised stuff, and buy high-quality materials to ensure that our beds looked decent and presentable. It was therefore ordered the 18-centimeter-strong board and timber quartet.

Now, our materials were ready, it was time to proceed to further work.

Partitioning and installation of terraces

We started with the layout area measurement, which is going to devote to the garden. It turned out that on it we can place four terraces a width of about one and a half meters and a length of about five. Then in the course went to tape, rope and pegs.

So we made the longest wall. We had to do now terraces restrictions on the sidewalls.

On the side walls went same board width of 18 cm. Just the length of parts was now 1 meter

Making beds wider makes no sense to be uncomfortable to weed and water the plants.

Framework for terraces was ready. If we had good soil, then it could be the same and fill construction.

Filling terraced beds black earth

We decided to order a fertile soil. We brought 5 tons of forest land, which even at first glance, totally different from our loam. The only pity is that the car could not drive closer to our terraces and black earth dumped us at the gate.

What should I do! Asked the neighbor's car and began to carry the ground

If we talk about the severity of the stages, this was, perhaps, the second after scoring supporting stakes. Peretaskat 5 tons of earth, this is not a joke

The last stage - the alignment of the tracks between the beds. I had to pour a bit of the "native" land to the passages were smooth. Then, when everything was finished, we still put on footpaths pieces of old boards because tracks soak after a rain, and it was impossible to come to the garden beds

I must say that the result was excellent. They are not a sin and boast.

What are the advantages of this design given us? First of all, on the level ground better feel of the plant. Water for irrigation is no longer flows down the slope, and is absorbed uniformly over the entire area of the beds. Finally, fertile soil, which we bought, is not eroded over the surface. look our gryadochki gently and handle them much easier, because you can stand on the lower floor and not too lean.

I advise anyone with uneven areas, put these terraces. This is convenient and beautiful.

Thank you Catherine and her mother for a detailed story and photos. It should be noted that the terrace - it is really very handy if you have a slope in the territory. Such a method will even help strengthen the slope of the wall and prevent it from slipping. There can be planted not only vegetable seedlings, but also shrubs or trees.

If you have a serious problem with the crumbling soil, in addition to a short video on how to reinforce a slope:
