Polyurethane adhesive appeared on the Russian market only recently, but thanks to excellent technical characteristics it quickly became one of the most popular adhesivesSuitable for joining surfaces of various types. Using Desmokol glue, it's easy to fix a chair, attaching a broken leg, gluing the linoleum behind the floor or repairing shoes that have their soles torn off.

With this universal adhesive you can connect a variety of materials: fabric, plastic, leather, metal and even glass. With any use, a high level of fastening reliability and an excellent result are guaranteed.

Composition and Characteristics of

Adhesive Desmokol contains polyurethane resins, organic solvents and various modifying components. This tool is widely used in the repair and production of footwear. Due to the ability to reliably connect surfaces of various types, glue is used to glue the upper part made of leather or fabric to the sole of polyurethane, PVC, rubber or thermoplastic. When casting PVC soles, Desmokol glue is also added, which significantly increases the strength of the joining of materials.

Adhesive composition has many advantages compared to other similar substances.

  • The glue is completely transparent, therefore, after repair, the connection point is imperceptible, which allows to completely restore the original look of shoes or other products.
  • Polyurethane adhesive is not afraid of water. With the help of this tool, it is possible to glue surfaces with a moisture content of 25%."Desmokol" glue is often used to repair rubber boats, equipment for hunting and fishing.
  • Universal adhesive is not destroyed in the cold and does not crack under the influence of heavy loads.
  • It is convenient to work with the adhesive, since it takes a while to completely dry it, which means that it is possible to correct the gluing site if necessary.
  • Durability and reliability of the connection. Two materials, glued together by Desmokol, form a single whole.
  • The seam is obtained not only durable, but also elastic, without excessive rigidity.

On sale glue can be found in different packages and conditions. For home repairs, small tubes of 50 ml or 1-liter cans are most convenient. On industrial scales, barrels of 20 or 200 liters are used.

There is an adhesive in the form of granules, which must be diluted independently with a solvent. The cleaner the solvent, the higher the quality of the adhesive.

Storage and precautions

Desmokol adhesive will save its unique properties and characteristics only if stored correctly. The main condition for the safety of the product is the tightness of the packaging and the maintenance of temperature in the range of +10 to +25 ° C.Under such conditions, the mixture will not lose its qualities for 1 year.

Important!

Desmokol contains a solvent - a rapidly flammable substance. Do not work with glue near an open flame, in addition, the room should have a good ventilation system.

Instructions for use of Desmokola

There are three ways to apply polyurethane adhesive to the surface and to glue the parts together.

  1. The usual way. The bonded surfaces are cleaned and degreased, after which a thin layer of glue is applied to them. After 10 minutes the procedure is repeated two more times and the surfaces are pressed against each other.
  2. With heating. The cleaned surfaces are greased with an adhesive compound and after 10 minutes they heat up with a hair dryer to 80 ° C.
  3. Wet method. Surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and wetted with water. A thin layer of glue is applied, the parts are compressed and placed under a press. The resulting clutch will be the most dense and reliable.

What rules should be observed when working with desmokol glue and how to pre-work the glued surfaces, the author of the site Mschistota.ru understood.

To achieve a reliable connection of surfaces, which allows you to provide your second life with your favorite footwear, you can only thoroughly clean the parts from dust and dirt, old glue, pieces of material. After cleaning, the surface is treated with sandpaper and degreased.

When the preparatory works are over, apply the adhesive 2-3 mm on the part and allow the composition to dry for 7-10 minutes. If the material to be processed is too porous and the glue is completely absorbed, an additional layer can be applied and again a little longer. As a result, the adhesive layer should dry and do not stick to the fingers.

Adhesive "Desmokol" for shoes will provide the best connection if it is heated to a temperature of 80 ° C.For these purposes, you can use an industrial or home hair dryer, as well as other heating appliances. The heated surfaces are pressed against each other as tightly as possible. Typically, high-quality glue does not require the installation of additional weights or clamps, but some masters use any loads for safety.

Shoes can be worn one day after the repair.

Advice

For gluing of the details of shoes, which are constantly exposed to moisture or temperature differences, it is possible to add the additive "Desmodur" in the proportion 1: 7 to the glue. This will ensure the thermal stability and strength of the joint.

How to dilute granular Desmokol

To dilute the adhesive in the granular state, it is necessary to prepare pure acetone in a ratio of 1: 10, that is, 20 g of glue-200 ml of solvent. Pellets to pour acetone and hold for 8 hours. As a result, a non-uniform transparent mixture will be obtained, which must be mixed until uniform. In the manual, the manufacturer notes that the process of dissolving granules will pass faster in a warm room with an air temperature of +25 to +30 ° C.
