- You need to find clay, and in order to determine if it is suitable for making dishes: you need to take a small lump of slightly moist clay, roll it into a tourniquet between your hands and bend it in half. If there are no cracks in the bend, you can safely deal with such material.
- Place the desired amount of clay in a deep container and fill it with water to the top.
- Do not be afraid to overdo with the amount of material harvested. Nobody forbids you to use surpluses in the next modeling and make something else out of clay.
Soaking clay
Soaking will allow the clay to become more plastic, greasy and cleaner.
Important! Most often, the sooting with clay, which contains sand in large quantities, makes it less plastic.
What exactly should I do:
- Take deep dishes, put clay in it and fill it with water in the ratio of 1 to 3, leave the material to be moistened for the whole night.
Important! Water should completely hide the clay in the tank.
- In the morning, bring the mixture to a uniform consistency. Allow the solution to stand for several days. You can proceed to further work only when the water becomes brighter.
- Drain the water through the rubber hose.
- Bury the clay to the lowest layer. The layer itself is not necessary to touch, because there will be only stones and sand. Pour the composition into a wooden box and leave in the sun to evaporate the unnecessary moisture.
- When most of the water evaporates, you can begin to mix the clay. The material should dry until it has taken the consistency of the dough and begins to stick to the hands. Now the finished clay, which should be covered with polyethylene, it remains to wait for modeling.
Important! Be sure to remove air before stamping. To do this, change the dough with your hands. Add a little water in case the material is very hard.

- Cut the clay into pieces, use a rolling pin to make plaits from them.
- We put the end of the harness on the bottom and press it hard so that it clings to the bottom.
- We overlap the rolled bundles against each other, pressing new layers.
- Dampen the tows with a small amount of water in case the material hardens.
Important! You can create fanciful vessels of various forms, using these methods of modeling.
