Required tools for repairing

The easiest and easiest solution is to contact the clothes repair workshop. And if you want to restore the product sparingly, then you can do it yourself. The whole process does not require anything from you that you can not cope with. Of course, having no specific experience in repair, the result may be less accurate than the professional restoration of a leather jacket. But if you act carefully - everything is in your power.

In order to return a neat and beautiful look to a leather product, you will need several items, the availability of which should be taken care of in advance.

Skin:

  • In case the tear on clothes has the shape of a corner, then you will not need material for a patch.
  • If the piece is pulled out completely on the jacket, it is necessary to choose a flap similar in color, texture and thickness, equal to the size of the hole formed.

Substrate

For the substrate, you can use not only suede and leather. If the tear is small in size, a dense fabric can be used.

Important! The only drawback of ordinary matter is that it does not adhere well to the leather base.

Glue

It is not possible to repair the leather thing with any glue. To seal the gap, use the glue "Moment", or a special glue for the skin. The repair of the jacket in this case will take less time, and the result will be more reliable.

Important! Glue PVA, and especially "Super glue", in any case can not be used on a jacket of such material.

How to repair a leather jacket at home?

There are several ideas for self-repair. We will consider the most popular and simple.

Method # 1

This method is suitable in case you need to restore the gap angle of the sleeve or other part of the jacket. For additional fixation of the torn piece you will need a little scotch.

Sequence of repair:

  1. To perform high-quality work, you need to provide access to the gap from the front and the underside. To do this, turn the jacket inside out and straighten the lining in the place closest to the hole.

Important! On each sleeve there is a factory seam, through which the product was turned out at the time of sewing. It will be best to tear the sleeve along this seam.

  1. Place the clothes face up and gently place the torn piece into place. Fix the gap with adhesive tape.

Important! Before sticking the adhesive tape on your skin, glue it to your hand several times to remove stickiness. Otherwise, sticky traces of scotch may remain on the material.

  1. Unscrew the product on the back and smooth the damaged area well. Make sure that there are no creases on the jacket.
  2. Prepare a patch made from suede or leather to the place of break.
  3. Place the load on the treated area for better bonding of the material and maximize the gluing position.

Important! A piece of skin that is glued to the main product should protrude beyond the edge of the tear, at least 1 cm from all sides.

  1. Leave clothing until completely dry. Then turn it to the front and remove the adhesive tape.
  2. Slightly push apart the joint of the glued piece. With a toothpick moistened in the glue, also work on the butt sections.

Important! Excess glue wipe with a lint-free cloth, so that the items do not leave whitish traces of glue.

  1. At the completion of the repair, treat the glued area with a skin dye or any skin cream in the tone of the product.

Method No. 2

You can also repair the leather jacket at home by another method. In this case, the restoration of a leather jacket does not take much time and does not require much effort on your part. In case the piece of skin is completely torn off, use the following steps to remove the hole.

Sequence of repair:

  1. To restore the integrity of the leather product, it is necessary, as in the first case, to provide access to the damaged section of the jacket. To do this, divide the production seam on the inside of the sleeve.
  2. The internal patch can be made from any durable material and a completely different color than the leather used on the front side.

Important! In the case of staining the damaged area with liquid skin, a piece of a different color can be used. When using a cream or other dye for leather material, the color of the patch should match the shade of the product to the maximum.

  1. Paste the pre-prepared patch to the break location in the manner described above. Also install the load on the treated area.
  2. Once the glued skin is completely dry from the wrong side, proceed to repair the front.
  3. Cut from a similar piece of leather detail, completely repeating the size and shape of the hole on the jacket.

Important! Take care that the patch does not protrude beyond the edges of the damaged area. Do not worry if the edges are loose in some places - such areas can be filled with a small amount of glue.

  1. In the end, treat the repaired area with cream or skin paint.

Now you know what to do if the leather jacket is torn, and how to seal the damaged area so that the rupture place is invisible. The two methods discussed in this article are very similar to each other and equally lead you to a neat result. In the process of restoration, in some cases you will have to be patient. Carry out repairs carefully and leisurely, and then your favorite thing will again have a stunning view.
