The use of candles to decorate a room on a solemn occasion can lead to the formation of spots from greasy film on the most unsuitable surfaces, for example, flooring. Before removing wax from the carpet, you need to make sure that this is a natural product, not its artificial counterpart.
The paraffin will have to work a little differently, then you can count on a positive result. Remove unwanted formations without a trace is difficult, but possible. The main thing is to act quickly, while the train is still frozen and does not absorb other particles of dirt.
Ways to remove traces of wax
To quickly clean the carpet from the candle and all traces of molten wax, one of the following approaches should be used:
- Freezing. We take ice, apply it to the problem area, wait a few minutes. The composition should not simply compact, but harden qualitatively. Then we break it with a hammer, collect large particles of mass and scrape off the small ones with a blunt knife. To complete the manipulation on the surface, it is recommended to walk around with a vacuum cleaner.
Tip: Before washing the wax in this way, the ice needs to be packed in a plastic bag. If the material gets wet during the treatment, it will add to the problems, especially when working with a long pile.
- Heating. This technique will work both with a fresh patch, and already withered formation. We cover the contamination with a paper towel, take a very warm iron and smooth the surface. Regularly changing the towel, we process the wax trail, until the composition can not be completely removed. Strongly heat the appliance is not worth it. It will not give a faster result, but in the process you can pile up pile.
- Alcohol treatment. This manipulation is carried out in case of occurrence of fat spots on the carpet after one of the listed cleaning methods. After the nap has cooled or completely dries, the problem area needs to be cleaned with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. Then dry the area with dry rags or napkins. To pour alcohol directly on the carpet is strictly forbidden, the material can be shed.
After the events, we evaluate the final result. In the event of residual effects, it is recommended that the chosen manipulation be performed once more, it is practically useless to apply the solvent. It will only add trouble and trouble.
Specificity of removing paraffin stains
To remove paraffin from the surface of natural or artificial nap, one can use one of the time-tested folk approaches. In the absence of the desired effect, a specific non-aggressive solvent can be connected to the treatment:
- A quick positive result guarantees the use of the acetic solution with salt. For its preparation, mix table vinegar, table salt and baking soda in equal proportions. The resulting composition is mashed into a homogeneous paste. We put the mass on the stain and leave it to dry completely. Then, using a soft brush, we try to clean the surface of the product that has dissolved and absorbed paraffin.
- If the trouble happened with a light carpet, then you need to prepare an active mixture of turpentine and ammonia, taken in equal proportions. The resulting solvent with a sponge is applied to the problem area, acting as rubbing movements. For best effect, leave the product for half an hour, then remove the residue with a brush and dry it.
- If the formation is very massive or refuses to depart when using other methods of exposure, you will have to resort to a rather aggressive cleaning option. We take one of the solvents: white spirit, refined gasoline, acetone or kerosene. We moisten the cotton pad in it and carry out a thorough processing of the problem zone. Before carrying out the manipulation, it is recommended to try the approach on an inconspicuous area of the pile, otherwise you can burn out the color of the material. After the desired result is achieved, it is necessary to conduct traditional cleaning of the palace with the help of a beloved folk or professional tool.
The proposed manipulations should be carried out in conditions of good air ventilation in the room or even in the open air. It is recommended to ventilate the product after cleaning. It is strictly recommended not to leave the contamination untreated or at least its residues. Even the transparent paraffin after a while will fade and turn into a visible spot, rapidly gathering dirt.
When working with a very long nap, it is necessary to act very carefully, trying to influence only the surface layer of the product. Restoration of sensitive household items is best entrusted to professionals, especially when it comes to carpets made from natural fur.
