We are bad about the planet that gave us life, feeds us and gives us all the means for existence. A man very often tries with all his might to turn his place of residence into a foul garbage dump. And usually he does it. Woods are being cut and animals are being destroyed, rivers are polluted with poisonous drains, and the oceans are becoming garbage dumps.
Some of the cities we live in resemble an illustration from a horror movie. They have multicolored puddles, stunted trees and air saturated with poisonous emissions. People in such cities do not live long, children get sick, and the smell of exhaust becomes a familiar scent.
Our country in this respect is no different from other industrial countries. Cities where chemical or any other harmful production is developed represent a sad spectacle. We have compiled a list for you, which included the dirtiest cities in Russia .Some of them can be said to suffer a real ecological disaster. But the authorities do not care about this, and local residents, it seems, have already got used to live in such conditions.
For a long time was considered the dirtiest city in Russia Dzerzhinsk in the Novgorod region. In this locality used to make chemical weapons, it was closed to the outside world. Over the decades of such activities, so many chemical rubbish accumulated in the soil, that local residents rarely live up to 45 years. However, we make our list based on the Russian counting system, and only harmful substances in the atmosphere are taken into account. Soil and water are not taken into account.
10
Magnitogorsk
Opens our list of the city, which all its short history was firmly associated with metallurgy, heavy industry and the exploits of the first five-year plans. The city is Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant - the largest similar enterprise in Russia. It is his share accounted for most of the harmful emissions that poison the lives of citizens. In total, about 255 thousand tons of harmful substances fall into the city air every year. Agree, a huge figure. The plant has numerous filters, but they help a little, the concentration of nitrogen dioxide in the air, soot exceeds the norm several times.
9
Angarsk
The ninth place of our list is another Siberian city. Although Angarsk is considered quite prosperous, the ecological situation here is sad. Chemical industry is extremely developed in Angarsk. Oil is actively processed here, many machine-building enterprises, they also harm nature, and in addition, there is a plant in Angarsk that processes uranium and spent fuel from nuclear power plants. Neighborhood with such a plant has not added health to anyone. In the urban air, 280,000 tons of poisonous substances fall every year.
8
Omsk
In eighth place is another Siberian city, in the atmosphere of which annually falls 290 thousand tons of harmful substances. Most of them are ejected by stationary sources. However, more than 30% of emissions are from cars. Do not forget that Omsk is a huge city with a population of more than 1.16 million people.
Industry began to develop rapidly in Omsk after the war, as dozens of enterprises from the European part of the USSR were evacuated here. Now the city has a large number of enterprises of ferrous metallurgy, chemical industry and machine building. They all pollute the urban air.
7
Novokuznetsk
This city is one of the centers of Russian metallurgy. Many of the enterprises have obsolete equipment and seriously poison the air. The largest metallurgical enterprise of the city is the Novokuznetsk Metallurgical Combine, which is also the main air polluter. In addition, the coal industry is quite developed in the region, which also gives a lot of harmful emissions. The inhabitants of the city consider a bad ecological situation in the city - one of their main problems.
6
Lipetsk
This city is Europe's largest metallurgical plant( NLMK), which emits a huge amount of pollutants into the air. In addition, in Lipetsk there are a few large enterprises that contribute to the deterioration of environmental conditions in the village.
Each year, 322 thousand tons of various harmful substances enter the urban air. If the wind blows from the side of the metallurgical plant, then in the air there is a strong smell of hydrogen sulfide. True, it should be noted that in recent years, the company has taken certain steps to reduce harmful emissions, but no results so far.
5
Asbestos
In the fifth place of our list of the dirtiest cities of Russia is the Ural settlement. As it becomes clear from the name of this city, it extracts and processes asbestos, and also produces silicate bricks. Here is the world's largest combine that produces asbestos. And it is these enterprises that have brought the city to the brink of an ecological catastrophe.
Annually more than 330 thousand tons of hazardous substances are released into the air, most of these emissions are from stationary sources.99% of them account for one enterprise. You can also add that asbestos dust is very dangerous and can cause cancer.
4
Cherepovets
In this city there are chemical and metallurgical factories-giants: Cherepovetsky nitrogen, Severstal, Severstal-metiz, and Ammophos. Annually they throw into the air about 364 thousand tons of substances hazardous to human health. The city has a very large number of diseases of the respiratory system, heart and cancer.
The situation is particularly worsening in the spring and autumn.
3
St. Petersburg
The third place of our list is the city of St. Petersburg, in which there are no large industrial enterprises or particularly harmful industries. However, the point here is different: in a city a very large number of cars and most of the emissions are the exhaust gases of cars.
Road traffic is improperly organized in the city, cars are often idle in traffic jams, poisoning air at the same time. The share of motor transport accounts for 92.8% of all harmful emissions in the city air. Every year, 488.2 thousand tons of harmful substances enter the air and this is much more than in cities with developed industry.
2
Moscow
The second place in terms of environmental pollution is the capital of the Russian Federation - the city of Moscow. There are no large and dangerous industries, do not produce coal or heavy metals, but every year in the air of a huge metropolis is thrown about 1000 thousand tons of substances harmful to humans. The main source of these emissions are cars, they account for 92.5% of all harmful substances in the Moscow air. Particularly heavily pollute the air of the machine during hours of standing in traffic jams.
The situation is getting worse every year. If the situation develops further, soon it will be impossible to breathe in the capital.
1
Norilsk
In the first place of our list of most polluted cities in Russia , with a very large margin is the city of Norilsk. This settlement, which is located in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, has been a leader for many years among the most disadvantaged in terms of the ecology of Russian cities. This is recognized not only by domestic experts, but also by foreign environmentalists. Many of them consider Norilsk a zone of ecological disaster. In the last few years, the city has become the leader of the most polluted territories on the planet .
The reason for this situation is quite simple: the city of Norilsk Nickel is located in the city, which is the main polluter. In 2010, 1,923,900 tons of harmful wastes were released into the air.
Studies conducted several years ago showed that the level of heavy metals, hydrogen sulfide, sulfuric acid exceeds the safe level several times. In total, the researchers counted 31 harmful substances, the concentration of which exceeds the permissible norm. Plants and sentient beings are slowly dying. In Norilsk, the average life expectancy is ten years less than the national average.
