Choose a fabric

The fewer seams, the better for an inexperienced seamstress. And this means that you need to choose the widest cut that you can find. As a rule, chiffon has a width of 150 cm - this is quite enough to quickly solve the problem of how to sew a long chiffon skirt.

It can be:

• straight;
• moderately flared;
• strongly flared;
• in the assembly;
• from wedges.

Important! Sew a narrow skirt in the style of the 50's of the last century or a typical "modern fish" is not very advisable, the wide will look much better. In addition, the sun, half sun, or "tatyanku" can be sewed without a pattern at all, while for a straight and narrow model the patterns should be very accurate.

Where do the patterns come from?

Before sewing a long chiffon skirt of a straight silhouette, you need to make patterns of two parts - halves of the front and back parts. To build it yourself is a long and time-consuming task, requiring precision. Of course, if everything is calculated correctly, the result will be wonderful patterns that will come in handy more than once. But you can do much easier if there is an old skirt, already unnecessary, but perfectly fit in size. It can even be with a hole or stain from the paint, it does not matter. The simpler the style, the better.

Let's start the process:

1. Strike the zipper and cut off the other hardware.
2. Seal all seams, including the hem of the hem, girdle and tucks.

The cut is made on the share thread, that is, the fabric needs to be folded in half, aligning the edges:

1. Place the front pattern on the material, aligning the middle of the gear with the fold.
2. You can fasten the strap with the tailor's pins or sweep it.
3. Pattern the rear of the set on the free area so that between it and the front there is a gap equal to at least two allowances.
4. Circle the sharp-pointed chalk( do not forget about the dart!).

For a classic straight skirt, it is better to make a belt of fabric, rather than from a fashionable now elastic band. You will need:

• a strip of chiffon 2 times wider than the width of the belt, plus allowances of 1 cm on all sides;
• adhesive fleece;
• button;
• pencil or chalk;
• ruler.

Important! The strip can be cut along the shares or oblique. The second option is better, because the fabric will stretch less.

How to work with the material:

1. Glue the workpiece with adhesive fleece.
2. Fold the strip in half with the wrong side inwards, aligning the long sides.
3. Fold the fold.

Cut

The skirt in the floor is better done with two seams:

1. Cut the cut in half to match the edges.
2. Find the middle of one edge.

Assembling
