Until September 29 this year, everyone can take part in the project "Russia 10" and vote for one of the great architectural monuments or a unique natural site. The goal of the project is to identify the visual symbols of the country through popular voting.
In the course of the initial voting more than 700 objects in different regions were selected. Today we offer a look at symbols of Russia, leading in the project "Russia-10" .

10. Astrakhan Kremlin
The Kremlin was built for 40 years - from 1580 to 1620.Brick for construction was taken on the ruins of the Golden Horde capital Saray-Batu. The symbol of the whole complex is the 80-meter bell tower. The perimeter of the walls of the Astrakhan Kremlin is 1,544 meters, and their thickness is from 2.8 to 5.3 meters.
9. Lake Baikal
About 9/10 of the total Russian fresh water reserve accommodates this unique lake. The surface area of Lake Baikal is 31,470 square kilometers.kilometers, which is almost the same as the area of Belgium. This lake is the deepest on Earth. The maximum depth of Lake Baikal is 1642 meters, the average depth is 744 meters. In the lake there are more than 1000 species of plants and animals that are not found anywhere else in the world.
8. Trinity-Sergius Lavra
The cathedral was founded in 1337 by the Reverend Sergius of Radonezh. This unique historical object in the center of Sergiev Posad is still preserved by the iconostasis, painted by the great masters - Danil Cherniy and Andrei Rublev. Every day, the Lavra is visited by hundreds of parishioners who want to bow to the relics of Sergius of Radonezh.
7. Monument to Catherine II and Catherine Square
Modern Catherine Square is located in the center of Krasnodar. It is believed that it was at this place that the city was founded. The first time a monument to Catherine was erected here in 1907, but 13 years later they were sent for remelting. In 2006, the solemn opening of this restored monument took place.
6. Sculpture Park "Legend"
This Penza park is part of the Center for Contemporary Art."Legend" is one of the world's largest sculptural parks and has practically no equal in the richness of the collection and uniqueness of the works presented here. The park has collected 275 beautiful works of granite, marble, metal and wood. Masters from 59 countries worked on the creation of sculptures.
5. Mamayev Kurgan and "Motherland Calling"
This memorial complex was opened in Volgograd in 1967 in dedication to the heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad. On the mound are buried the remains of more than 34 thousand fallen soldiers - defenders of Stalingrad. The height of the memorial "Motherland Calls" - 86 meters, the sculpture itself has a height of 53 meters, and for its manufacture went 5.5 thousand tons of concrete and 2.4 thousand tons of metal.
4. Khopersky reserve
In order to restore and preserve the ecosystem in the valley of the river Khoper, in 1935 a reserve was founded here. On its territory there are about 4 hundred lakes and old people. There is incredibly rich vegetation, which includes 1200 species of higher plants. Thanks to the Khopersky Reserve, it was possible to preserve such a species of animals on the planet as the Russian desman.
3. Bogoroditsky Museum-Reserve
This country ensemble was erected at the end of the XVII century by the order of Catherine II.The palace was blown up by the Germans in 1941, and the park was almost destroyed. By 1988, the palace was restored and a museum was opened, and the reconstruction of the unique park continues to this day.
2. Mosque "Heart of Chechnya"
This Grozny mosque is one of the largest and majestic in the world. The mosque was opened in 2008.Its name was given to the mosque in honor of the first president of Chechnya, Akhmat-Khadji Kadyrov."The heart of Chechnya" is surrounded by a huge park, which is part of the Islamic complex, which also includes the Russian Islamic University and the Spiritual Office of Muslims of Chechnya.
1. Kolomna Kremlin
The construction of the Kremlin continued from 1525 to 1531 under the leadership of Italian architects. The complex is located at the confluence of the rivers Kolomenki and Moscow. Today there is an exhibition of ancient Russian military equipment and weapons. On the territory of the Kremlin, there are thematic exhibitions, military games and attractions.
