It is interesting that this simple and primitive method has gained such popularity. And why? Just because polyethylene and a grater is what everyone has in the kitchen, and just for the sake of interest, you will certainly try to repeat this experience. But is it worth it?
Cellophane, grater and garlic: compatible things?
The essence of the idea is that if you rub the garlic on a grater through cellophane, it will be easier to wash the tool, and you don't have to pick out the garlic from small holes.
The question immediately arises: what will happen to polyethylene with this treatment? The thin film will break after the first press on contact with the sharp teeth of the grater. Basically, you will be rubbing the garlic on metal, not polyethylene. Only he will remain on the film, but here's the catch: not all. Part of the gruel will still pass through the holes of the grater.
As a result: the grater will not remain clean, this is a complete deception. You still have to wash it. Yes, it will be easier to remove the bulk of the garlic gruel from the bag, but this gruel will be with pieces of polyethylene. How do you like this seasoning for food? And without polyethylene, a lot of unnecessary things get into our stomach, and then there's such an indigestible component.
But this does not mean at all that polyethylene cannot be useful in cooking.
