Today we will carefully consider the new project of the designer Marina Kozlova. It is based on the use of natural materials, trendy gray shades, hidden storage systems and the ability to save space in a modest area. The designer has skillfully transformed a 42 m² studio into a suite, but has retained the warmth of home.
As a basis, the designer took a typical open-plan apartment of 42 m², where as an experiment decided to equip a two-room suite for a single girl who spends most of her time on work.
The client was so used to traveling on business that, ideally, she wanted to see in her apartment something similar to a good hotel room - functional and not requiring frequent cleaning.
To implement the idea, colors of a calm palette were chosen. An important point was that the bedroom space should be closed, and the kitchen should still be present.
“We are looking at an apartment, not a hotel, so we cannot do without a kitchen,” says the designer. - We managed to place the dishwasher and washing machine in the main part of the kitchen, and under the countertop of the island part we made pull-out storage cabinets. Making space for an island in such a small space is a must. In this interior, the island is a full-fledged dining and work area. "
Due to the fact that the space of the premises was still small, the designer decided not to completely isolate the sleeping area, but only to outline its boundaries. Thus, many of the functional spaces of the apartment remained in sight. As a result, it was possible to preserve the volume and air in the apartment and fill it with natural light as much as possible.
Despite the modest space, the landlady dreamed of a spacious dressing room. As a result, it turned out to organize two functional storage areas - one in the bedroom, the other in the hallway. Please note: massive poufs serve as an additional storage area.
Outerwear and oversized items such as suitcases and seasonal clothes will be stored in the corridor. The second dressing room was provided in the bedroom area - it serves for the customer's personal belongings.
A complex, deep combination of noble gray shades and moldings were used to decorate the walls. The paint is matte, quick-drying, on the floor in the living area there is an engineered board, the bathroom is completely decorated with porcelain stoneware.
As we have already said, between the living room and the bedroom, we have kept the load-bearing wall, slightly ennobling it. At the stage of creating the project, the designer suggested lengthening it a little and designing a console around this wall. The console has two functions: visual consolidation of the two zones and additional storage.
The bathroom turned out to be quite spacious, with a full bath. The washbasin was successfully placed, in the niche it was also possible to create the effect of expanding the space due to the mirror. There was a separate area for drying linen and towels. The hidden lockers are not visible at the entrance, however, they are always, as they say, at arm's length. The installation was sewn into the furniture structure. It was possible to place a storage area there, and the structure itself serves as an element of decor.
