What happens to the lubricant
As you know, plastic windows practically do not need maintenance. There is no need to tint and repair them, they are sealed and have a smooth control mechanism. The mechanism consists of metal parts that are treated with factory grease.
How do you know that the dust has already begun to work against you? The main sign is the "talkativeness" of your windows - there is a creak, extraneous clicks or rattling when opening and closing. This means that the dirt "ate" the lubricant, and a destructive process of friction began. And now metal from this very mechanism is gradually added to ordinary dust. This means that the process of destruction will go much faster.
Why do you need to lubricate plastic windows
All of the above leads us to a logical conclusion - the lubricant needs to be renewed periodically so that there is no wear of parts and no breakdown of the entire mechanism. And don't be fooled by the 5-year manufacturer's warranty. Yes, factory grease can last for such a long time, but by the end of it, the process of destruction has already begun. So don't wait until the warranty expires and renew your lubricant regularly. Better to spend 5 minutes a year on this than to fork out for a new mechanism.

How to lubricate windows, and what is needed for this
The first important question is how to lubricate the leaf control mechanism. And as it turns out, this is not a problem - any high-quality lubricant will do, including the one used for household sewing machines. Silicone grease will do just fine. Just keep in mind that silicone grease is short-lived.
If you want to do everything according to the rules, look for a specialized composition that is sold in special bottles with a set of tools.
On the Internet, you can find recommendations for using WD-40 instead of lubricant. This composition is not a lubricant in its characteristics.
Window mechanism processing algorithm:
- open the sash, inspect the mechanism and process it with WD-40;
- a couple of minutes after processing, wipe the mechanism with a soft cloth, and in particularly secluded places with a cotton swab;
- apply new grease to all moving parts of the mechanism using a spray or the same cotton swab. If the lubricant is applied drip - at least 3 drops for each movable joint;
- open and close the window several times, pull the handle of the mechanism, put it in different positions.
Important! Never use vegetable oil, butter, cream, or petroleum jelly for lubrication.
Remember, lubrication is not the only possible care for these frames. They need seasonal adjustment, which can also be done on your own.
