The chipboard, which is also a chipboard, is used to make furniture very often. Furniture can look as if it is made of noble wood, but it will cost much less. The chipboard has one unpleasant feature - its structure is such that metal fastenings do not always hold well. Most of this suffer from objects that have doors. How to fix the cabinet door? Now we will discuss this.
to the contents ↑Door defects
Any furniture needs constant attention, otherwise it starts to cause trouble to the owners. For metal products, one must constantly make sure that they do not rust. Wooden tables, chairs and cupboards begin to creak with time, and they have to be glued or twisted. Most of all unpleasant surprises is presented by furniture made from chipboard, in particular, cabinets.
However, some problems are typical for all furniture materials, except for plastic:
- the door starts to squeak;
- the door does not want to close;
- handle does not want to work or break;
- the door is scratched.
How to fix the cabinet door loops?
Some defects of the hinges can be eliminated by hand, in other cases it is better to replace the loop or door. For example, if an unpleasant creak sounds when you open or close the doors.
The door can begin to creak both from the chipboard and wood, and the metal, and at all, produces an abominable gnashing. Actually, not the cabinet itself creaks, but the door hinges. Accordingly - they must be "treated".
For this you will need:
- engine oil or oil for loops;
- syringe.
Important! Special oil for loops in this case is preferable, because it is sold in a convenient aerosol container.
How to fix the cabinet door:
It is enough to slip a loop, and it will stop annoying your hearing. Well, and machine oil is most conveniently applied by means of a small syringe( for example, diabetic).For preventive maintenance, only a few drops are needed.
to the contents ↑Correcting the magnet
It is not uncommon for a cabinet door to open constantly. Closing is useless. Our grandmothers came out of the situation simply - folded several times a piece of newspaper and put under the door. Effectively, but not particularly beautiful.
But other ways, except how to invite the carpenter to fit a naughty detail, and there was not. Now it is very important to see what your design is:
- with a magnet;
- without magnet.
Door on magnets
Most modern furniture doors are held in the closed position with a small magnet and a metal bar. If the cabinet is always open, the magnetic mount must be simply adjusted.
The only tool you need is a screwdriver:
- Loosen the screws that secure the magnet, but do not completely remove them.
- Move it a little bit forward.
- Tighten the screws.
Check that you have succeeded. Usually, such a simple repair works well, but sometimes it does not give a result. Then you need to change the mount.
Door without a magnet
In this case, you can use the grandmother's experience and make a small gasket. Only, of course, not from paper. Most suitable for a small piece of rubber thickness from 1 to 5 mm, depending on the width of the gap.
You will still need:
- knife or scissors;
- ruler;
- ballpoint pen;
- universal adhesive;
- hammer and small nails.
It remains only to find a gasket - a rectangle of about 2х3 cm. It does not matter how smooth it will be. Next, to fix the cabinet door:
- Draw a rectangle of the correct size on the rubber piece.
- Cut the workpiece with a sharp knife( it is better to do this on the ruler) or with scissors, if the rubber structure allows.
- Stick a piece on the bottom of the box, or nail it with small nails.
What to do with the pen?
There is no point in restoring the handle, unless it has artistic value. If it's standard, it's better to replace it with exactly the same one. To do this, you need a screwdriver and a small box or a sheet of white paper( so that the screws in the process are not lost).
We proceed to repair the cabinet door:
- Open the door.
- Carefully remove the screws.
- Remove the handle.
- Attach a new one.
- Screw in the screws without tightening.
- Adjust the handle.
- Tighten the screws.
Mechanical Damage
If the cabinet door is scratched or the lining falls off, it can be restored. With its loops it is better to remove it at the same time - with a wooden or metal part it always does. And as for the DSP, it's better not to risk it, to restore it by weight.
Important! Unfortunately, the places of fastenings at such doors fail quite often, and repairs do not always give the desired result.
to the table of contents ↑Repair of the door of the
chipboard The most common problem with such details is screws, screws or screws, often with pieces of board. A hole is formed, into which nothing is inserted. How to repair the cabinet door from the chipboard, if such a disaster happened?
Several ways:
- to put a loop of another design;
- to seal holes with the help of a special branded composition;
- fix the holes with a self-made solution of sawdust and glue;
- by placing wooden bushings;
- by placing a wooden or metal plate.
Adhesive and screws
The chipboard from which furniture is made can be both hard and soft. The repair methods in these cases will be different. For example, if the cabinet is made of soft board( as a rule, modern furniture is made of this kind), you can fix the broken holes with sawdust, but for old Soviet furniture this option is not suitable.
If the fasteners flew off and a "lacerated wound" was formed in its place, you can try to repair it with the composition, which includes:
- sawdust;
- glue PVA.
In this case, it is not necessary to remove the door from the second hinge:
- Mix sawdust with glue to form a thick and relatively homogeneous mass( it is important that there are no large lumps).
- Seal this hole with the mixture.
- Allow to dry completely.
- Screw the self-tapping screws in the same adhesive and screw in.
Important! This method is suitable only for small cabinets, in which the doors are light enough.
Epoxy resin
This option is more reliable than the previous one, as the epoxy after hardening has a rather high strength:
- Mix epoxy resin with large wood chips.
- Fill the fault area.
- Allow to dry completely, which will take approximately 24 hours.
- Mark the locations of the holes for the fasteners - if you are not going to change the loop, they will be in the same place they were.
- Drill holes with a thin drill.
- Drill them into the diameter of the screws.
- Secure the door.
If a large piece of
falls offIt also happens that a large piece of chipboard fell off at the fixing point, but it did not fall apart into separate fragments. In this case, it can simply be glued, adding a small amount of sawdust to the PVA glue. The rest is done in the same way as in the previous case.
When the door just fell off
How to fix the door of the cabinet from the chipboard, if it fell off, but rather neatly, and no sawdust formed? In this case, plastic dowels will help you out.
You will also need a tool to cut the dowels - they are likely to be longer than necessary. Doors should not get out. You can cut them with a knife. After you insert them, hang the door hinge on the screws.
to the contents ↑The new
loop You can get out of the situation and otherwise you will not need to glue anything. Door hinges now come in a variety of sizes and with different distances between the holes for the screws. In this case, you can even not close the holes from the fallen fasteners.
It's better, of course, to do this, covering it with furniture wax - any unnecessary hole reduces the strength of the entire structure. So seal the holes in one of the suggested ways, and then proceed as follows:
- With a special cutter with a diameter of 30 mm, make grooves in the door under the loop above or below the previous ones.
- Screw the hinge to the door with screws.
- Attach the second part of the loop to the sidewall.
Important! For greater reliability, you can immediately put the self-tapping screws on the glue - this will increase the strength of the fastening.
to the contents ↑Wooden plugs
How to repair the door of the kitchen cabinet, if it is quite heavy? Even a very strong adhesive in this situation is not a particularly reliable assistant. You will need:
- piece of hardwood( oak is best, but you can take birch);
- knife;
- glue PVA;
- rags or napkins;
- hammer.
In this case, conical conical plugs are jammed into the holes:
- Cut 2 wooden plugs - the diameter of them must be larger than the hole size.
- Lubricate the holes with PVA glue so that the tile is soaked.
- Lubricate the plug with the same adhesive.
- Drive the plug into the hole.
- Remove excess glue with a damp cloth or cloth.
- Wait until the adhesive is completely dry.
- Screw the loop into place with
Special tools
Some furniture manufacturers produce special restoration products. Usually they resemble plasticine in consistency. For example, such material is offered to its clients by Heinkel.
How to use:
- .
- Sprinkle the place you are going to restore with water.
- Clamp it with "plasticine".
- Wait until the structure dries.
- Place the loop in the usual way on the self-tapping screws.
Wooden or metal die
The hole formed from the fallen screws can not be closed, but closed. This requires a wooden or metal die.
Important! Wooden is easier to make and drill, but metal is more reliable.
How to repair the cabinet door:
- Remove the door and unscrew the hinges.
- Cut the length of the die so that it covers both holes.
- Attach it with long screws to the inside of the cabinet.
- Mark the places for self-tapping screws.
- Screw the door.
When should I drill through?
In most cases, the loop is attached to the inside of the cabinet. Drilling holes, you need to watch so as not to hole through the door. But sometimes it is necessary to do this, if no other methods can be applied, and the cabinet is still to be thrown out:
- Make 2 dice.
- Screw one on the inside and the other on the outside.
- Drill holes on the inner plate for bolts, and on the outside - for nuts.
- Place the loop by screwing it with the bolts.
- Cover the outer plate with a decorative cover plate.
To prevent the door from breaking
As you can see, there is a lot of repairs with the doors from the chipboard repair, and repairs do not always give a good result. Therefore it makes sense to apply some preventive measures, especially since they are quite simple:
- When placing furniture, immediately choose a place for the cabinet to move it as little as possible.
- Do not yank the door, open it gently and without jerking.
- Do not hang heavy items on the handle( you can find a more suitable place for the shopping bag).
- Periodically lubricate the hinges.
Now you know different ways how to fix the cabinet door. We hope you managed to do this on your own, and the result looks aesthetically pleasing, and the furniture has not lost its reliability and practicality.
