There are such simple things, without which it is difficult to do. For example, a small portable toolbox. If you at least once in the leg dropped the hammer, you will understand what I mean. Plain, unremarkable carrying handle, roomy enough to take with you everything you need - such a thing should be in every home. This is the opinion and our constant reader Elena Kolesnikova from Stavropol, which has decided to make their own hands a box as a gift to her husband. How she got it - here and now in the review HouseChief edition.

Hello, my darlings! Every married woman must understand me: if strong half takes on the case, can not do without apprentices. I always remember a small sketch of Jerome K. Jerome, in which the Pope hang the picture. As long as it does around the whole family involved: someone holding a ladder, someone ran over with a hammer, nails are children. Very funny story, after which the picture hung crooked, and my dad a little bit injured and was very tired. Well, we have so happens. The constant need to rush through the house to find the right screwdriver or wrench, until His Majesty is under the sink - a common occurrence. And once I thought about that a solution can be very simple: all you need is meplier for the most essential tools. Such carrying, in which everything should be on hand. So I decided to do it myself and give my supermasteru. He went on daily duty, and I began a surprise.

Materials, dimensions and location

For the manufacture of the tool box I needed a 1 cm thick plywood. It may be cutting if you are used to something of this material did. Take thinner plywood do not advise: attachment will not be as strong, and the box can even break under the weight of the tools.

It needs to work jigsaw, drill, screwdriver, ruler, tape measure, pencil and sandpaper.

Driving our future products with my size. You can choose your ownWhy such dimensions? The answer will seem very simple.

I just chose the longest hammer of all that were in the house and guided by its dimensions

Preparation of parts for the tool box

Getting started - of course, with the marking. With a length of the box, I decided, and width that is selected by a piece of plywood that I had. But it must be said that more than 30 cm to do makes no sense: the box will be uncomfortable to carry. Optimally - 20 cm.

I chose a size of 18 cm. I would say that more and do not need

After marking, I set about cutting out parts. I must say, do not try to do it with hand tools. Cut plywood - hard work, and you manually sawn This material is unlikely to want more time to work with it

Keep in mind while working to protect the eyes from small chips, I had such a bad experience that ended with a visit to the trauma center

At the end of the box, I decided to cut through holes in the form of stars. Yes, it is not easy, but the soul is required of beauty even in such utilitarian things

All sawn items I thoroughly processed sandpaper, so that when using the drawer accidentally catch a splinter

Before assembly, I painted all the details. In principle, it is possible to do this and then, but it seemed to me that it's easier. Painting acrylic paint used, it almost does not smell and dries very quickly, literally within half an hour

Another nuance in dealing with plywood: it is very difficult to nail and screw in screws. The fact that it consists of layers of wood fibers in different directions, and it is a very complicated task.

Now we have to make a handle. My billet was longer than necessary, so I mark up and cut it exactly so that the handle came between the end walls close, without clearance

It remains to fix it completely through the wall of a pair of screws

That's all! I coped with this task in just one evening. In the morning my husband came home, and on the table in the doorway waiting for him a gift.

In the box just put all the most "running" tools

But I must admit, when I was preparing for this lovely still life, I came up with another idea.

Such a box would look good with different contents

So, perhaps, I will do so more for themselves, and maybe not even one. Well, this is my husband carrying the pleasure enjoyed, so I'm guessing with surprise.

Elena coped with the task! In a short time and without much effort she turned convenient and simple box. We thank the author for the excellent photos and a detailed description of the process. In addition, we offer here an interesting video about the production tool box more complex design:

We look forward to your opinion in the comments! And do not forget: the heading "not a woman's business" is looking for his heroines! Share your success on our site!
