Workshop

To make a plate made from papier mache, you must follow these instructions:

  1. Tear newspapers into small pieces and soak them in water. As a plate for the basis, you can take any deep dish. In our case, a glass salad bowl is used.
  2. Turn the plate over and begin to cover the wet pieces of newspaper all over the surface. You can put the pieces in several layers, so that your plate is harder and more solid. When you put the entire plate completely outside, leave it overnight to dry.
  3. When the newspapers are completely dry, start gently wrapping the second layer with wet paper. Leave to dry.
  4. Pour in a small bowl of PVA glue. Tear the sheets of A4 is not small pieces, and dipping them in the glue, paste them on top of the plate. This must be done very carefully, because the dried lower layers that can stay on the water may fall off. But in another way you will not get it, because we need the plate to separate from the base. So, glue the whole plate with white paper.
  5. When the glue dries, carefully remove the glass base. Now, from the inside, you have a newspaper.
  6. Paste it with white paper, pre-moistened with glue and wait until the glue dries completely.
  7. Cover the paper with one more layer. Do not forget about the edges of the plate - they also need to be glued. It is desirable to apply about 4 layers - inside and out - only so a plate of paper with their own hands will be stable.
  8. Surely you would like that in such a plate you could put something, for example, only washed fruit, and while it is not soaked. To prevent such trouble paint the product with enamel paint of the desired color.
  9. After drying the first layer, apply one more coat of paint - so the color will be more saturated. Wait for complete drying. You can refer the article to fresh air - it will dry out faster.
  10. To make the product more durable and beautiful, it can be varnished on top of the paint.

So our plate of paper with our own hands is ready, which can be successfully used for storing all kinds of little things or as a vase for fruit. Be creative and color the plate to your liking, and it will become a wonderful decoration for your home.
