This rating presents the most successful domestic tennis players of the 20th and 21st centuries. Criteria for assessing the success of athletes were participation in the finals of the Grand Slam tournaments and the total number of wins in the singles category of the Women's Tennis Association( WTA) series.

7th place: Olga Morozova ( born February 22, 1949, Moscow) is the most successful Soviet tennis player in women's singles. In 2000, the Tennis Federation of Russia was recognized as the best tennis player of the 20th century. In total, in the career of Olga Morozova 8 won tournaments in women's singles, as well as two entrances to the final of the Grand Slam tournaments: at Wimbledon in 1974 and the same year at Roland Garros.

6th place: Vera Zvonareva ( born September 7, 1984, Moscow) is a Russian tennis player who won 12 tournaments in the women's singles category WTA.Vera played twice in the finals of the Grand Slam tournaments: at Wimbledon in 2010 and in the same year at the US Open.



5th place: Elena Dementieva ( born Oct. 15, 1981, Moscow) is a Russian tennis player who won 16 tournaments in the women's singles category WTA.Elena played twice in the finals of the Grand Slam tournaments: at Roland Garros in 2004 and in the same year at the US Open. Elena Dementieva is the only Russian who managed to become the Olympic champion in tennis. This happened at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.



4th place: Dinara Safina ( born April 27, 1986, Moscow) is a Russian tennis player who won 12 tournaments in the women's singles category WTA and played three times in the finals of the Grand Slam tournaments: at Roland Garros in 2008 and 2009 and at the Openthe Australian Championships in 2009.Dinara Safina - the second after Maria Sharapova Russian woman, who became the first racket of the world. It is noteworthy that Dinara's brother, Marat Safin, was also the first racket of the world.



3rd place: Anastasia Myskina ( born July 8, 1981, Moscow) is a Russian tennis player who won 10 tournaments in the women's singles category WTA.Anastasia Myskina is the first Russian woman who managed to win the Grand Slam tournament. This happened on Roland Garros in 2004.



2nd place: Svetlana Kuznetsova ( born June 27, 1985, St. Petersburg) is a Russian tennis player who won 14 tournaments in the women's singles category WTA.Svetlana played in the 4 finals of the Grand Slam tournaments in singles, of which she won two in two( the US Open in 2004 and Roland Garros in 2009) and lost in two( Roland Garros in 2006 and the US Open in 2007year).



The most successful Russian tennis player is Maria Sharapova ( born April 19, 1987, Nyagan, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area, Tyumen region).Maria won 35 tournaments in the women's singles category WTA and was the first of the Russians who managed to become the first racket of the world and to win all the Grand Slam tournaments( Sharapova is one of 10 tennis players in the history of world tennis who managed to collect the Grand Slam).Maria Sharapova played in ten finals of the Grand Slam tournaments, of which she won in five( Wimbledon in 2004, the US Open in 2006, the Australian Open in 2008, Roland Garros in 2012 and 2014) and lost in five( Open ChampionshipAustralia in 2007, 2012 and 2015, Wimbledon in 2011, the Australian Open in 2012 and Roland Garros in 2013).
